Tottenham vs Arsenal Live: Carling Cup

Tottenham are hosting their local rivals Arsenal which actually makes this match a little bit more competitive, normally the Carling Cup is considered the “Mickey Mouse” cup of English football and no fans really care whether or not their teams win it.

Ok, any trophy is nice, but any other one is better when you’re in the top flight. Tottenham seem to be one of the few teams to take this competition seriously and if they reach the final this time it will be the third time in four years.

William Gallas will unfortunately miss the chance to play against his old side as will defenders King, Corluka, and Kaboul. This does leave the home team a little bit strapped for a defence which could be an issue as Arsenal have shown recently that they really do have a bit of a sting when it comes to going forward.

At home, Tottenham may have what is considered to be a minor advantage, whether or not this actually makes any real deal of difference remains to be decided.
                                                                                                
Arsenal don’t seem to be taking this match entirely seriously, they have said that they are going to continue to use the Carling Cup as a way to give their youngsters a chance at a start, this is all well and good against the smaller clubs that they can sometimes be drawn against.

The fact of the matter is that this match is a derby and fans will not be impressed at losing to Tottenham regardless of whether it is considered an important match or not. Generally speaking Arsenal have won this fixture more times than Tottenham although with a squad of youngsters playing this should be Tottenham’s match for the taking providing that they don’t underestimate the team that Wenger puts out to play them.
