2010 Fantasy Football: Don't Give Up on Me Yet
The NFL season is long. Everybody wants their team to get off to a great start. Every fantasy player wants to start off with a check in the winner’s column. Unfortunately half the teams don’t reach that goal. Before you go making rash roster moves, realize that this was only one week. Here’s a list of players that you should hold onto despite their shaky start.
Kevin Kolb, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
He looked awful before getting knocked out of the game with a concussion. Michael Vick looked great in relief. Michael Vick could look great again this week against Detroit. That doesn’t mean Vick is going to get a firm handle on the job. Kolb will likely get the team back. With a bunch of young weapons he should still be fine. He just found the bump in the road early on.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Thomas Jones, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
Jones only had 39 yards while Jamaal Charles had 100 total yards and a score. Jones is still a talented option you’ll want to hold on to for RB depth.
Mike Sims-Walker, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars![]()
Even though I’m not a fan of MSW, I wouldn’t recommend flat-out dropping him. He finished last season on a sour note and failed to catch a pass in the Jags’ opener, but the potential is still there. If he’s still not producing in a couple of weeks let him go, but for now hold pat.
Malcom Floyd, WR, San Diego Chargers
Yes, Legedu Naanee outproduced Floyd, accruing 110 yards and a score to Floyd's 48 yards, but that doesn’t mean Naanee should be crowned the new No. 1. Antonio Gates is the primary option in the passing game. Floyd and Naanee will have their moments at the No. 1 target, but it may vary from week to week.
Robert Meachem, WR, New Orleans Saints
Same goes for Meachem. Devery Henderson hauled in a TD while Meachem was limited to 33 yards. The Saints spread the ball around an awful lot. It’s hard to predict when to use Meachem, and Henderson for that matter, but he should at least be owned in most formats.
Owen Daniels, TE, Houston Texans
Depending on what else is available in the TE market you may be able to get rid of Daniels. However, if the pickings are slim you may want to hold onto him. He played more than expected in the opener, and he should get more comfortable with his knee as the weeks go on. If he doesn’t have the burst that made him an elite TE option in the past after a few games then you might want to go in another direction. Until then, you may want to stick it out.
Garrett Hartley, K, New Orleans Saints
Hartley netted just two points in the opener thanks to a pair of FG misses. While it is inexcusable to miss that 32-yarder, and the 46-yard miss stung too, he’s going to have too many scoring opportunities to just throw away after one bad game.
