Real Sociedad vs. Real Madrid Live: September 18, 2010

Joe LazarSep 17, 2010

Real Madrid seem to be starting to find their stride after they beat Ajax in a rather convincing manner midweek. They started the season with a poor 0-0 draw and followed that up with a shaky victory over Osasuna.

The team seems to be improving with every game under Mourinho, and they are going to have to continue to do so if they are going to win the title this season.

Perhaps part of the problem has been that their key player, Ronaldo, has yet to score a goal despite having more shots on target than anybody else in the Spanish league so far this season.

The man to watch in this match may be Xabi Alonso, who is returning to his old club and is relishing the opportunity to demonstrate exactly what he’s learned since leaving.

Alonso has said openly that he is relishing the opportunity and has a great respect for the coach and believes the team will not be a walk in the park for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Madrid are actually on the right track at the moment, even if it is only due to Barcelona’s poor performance as opposed to their own brilliance.

They are a point ahead, which means that Barcelona’s slip up has made up for their poor season start.

Real Sociedad haven’t exactly had a terrible start to the season; in fact, it is pretty similar to Madrid’s one win and one draw, this however does not mean that they are up to the challenge of hosting one of Spain’s top two clubs.

They may be able to hold Madrid to a draw and they are certainly not going to be a side which Real can steamroll over. This will probably not be a huge defeat for the hosts, but it probably will be a loss all the same.

You can catch Sociedad vs Real Madrid live on Al Jazeera Sport HD, C+ Sport HD (in the Nordics), Sky Sport HD3 (Italy), Sky Sports HD4 (UK) and on many other TV stations.
