NFL 2010 Week 2 Predictions/Observations From A Lady Football Fan

Roz McCoySep 17, 2010

Please note: I am a football watching rookie. I've watched a game or two over the years, and I have watched every Superbowl for the last 28 yrs of my life, but I've never watched an entire season until last year. However, I think I am intelligent enough to make the following predictions, based on what I have observed, read, and gleaned from  my die-hard football fanatic friends.

Arizona is the reason I started watching football in the first place. It was the 2009 Superbowl and they were up against the Steelers. I've HEARD of the Steelers before, but I had to ask myself "What's a Cardinal?" I didn't even know Arizona HAD a team,( and based on their performance at the Superbowl, they didn't.) Throughout the entire game, I kept saying to myself, "How in the world did the Cardinals get to the Superbowl?" I made a promise to myself to watch ALL of next season, so that I wouldn't have to ask THAT again.

And I watched EVERY game that I could, and looked up everything about every game on everywhere. I Googled. I read blogs. I Facebooked. I badgered all of my football watching friends, drilling them with endless questions. After all that researching and badgering, I learned to make intelligent predictions. I  even predicted the Saints going to the Superbowl (although I didn't pick them to win).

Pretty good for a rookie.

And now, I wanna put on my big girl cleats  and attempt to write articles, nee predictions, based on facts, figures, observations, stats and plain old fashioned woman's intuition.

 Here goes...

Rosalind  McCoy's Week 2 Predictions

Atlanta vs Arizona: Poor Arizona. They are suffering from the dropsy's: A team that didn't win the big game and drops into oblivion. Atlanta played pretty well, last week, considering they were playing against the Steelers. They should play even better against the Cardinals. Falcons  27 - Cardinals 13

Baltimore vs Cincy - Perhaps Ochocinco should have spent more time practicing football  than Dancing with Stars. He looked a bit rusty to me in Week 1. Unfortunately,  he and the Bengals need to shake off a lot more rust before they take on the Ravens' defense. Ravens  31 - Bengals 20

Kansas City Vs Cleveland - Cleveland still has a team? Just kidding, but you gotta admit they have been really lackluster for a couple of decades. Chiefs 27 - Browns

Philadelphia vs Detroit - I would love to see the Tigers win a game to make up for that bloody awful game in week 1 against Chicago. Unfortunately, it won't happen against the Eagles. Michael Vick will start Sunday. And Detroit are the LIONS. Eagles 35 - Detroit 20

Chicago vs Dallas:  This should be an interesting game to watch. I would like to see if Da Bears can pull another rabbit out of the end zone ( see week one against Detroit). The Cowboys' defense and offense was all over the place against the Redskins, except in the scoring section of the field. If the coach is smart, Alex Barron will be playing defensive bench this week. Cowboys 20 - Bears 17

Pittsburgh vs Tennessee: Pittsburgh Steelers, a name synonymous with football greatness. They are legendary. They are invincible.  But not this week. And not against the Titans.Steelers 20 - Titans  35

Miami vs Minnesota:  Yeah, the Vikings have Farve on their roster, but he hasn't had time to connect with the team, yet. Miami is starved for a win. I'm predicting an upset. Miami 27 - Vikings 20

Tampa Bay vs Carolina:The Buccaneers are doing some great rebuilding, but they need more time to get their team seasoned. Carolina is well seasoned, but QB Matt Moore suffered a concussion in week1. He's scheduled to play, but his judgment might be just a little off kilter. Still, they're playing at home. Buccaneers 17 - Panthers 24

Seattle vs Denver: I, as well as most of the football watching public, was shocked at how badly the Hawks ran over the 49ers. You know, the 49ers who were predicted to win the division this year? The same 49ers got handled by the team predicted to be last in their division?  I'm sure the Hawks are feeling pretty darn good right about now. But... they are playing the Broncos On Sunday. Something tells me they are gonna be feeling Ben Gay come Monday. Seahawks 10 - Denver 33

St Louis vs Oakland: Every body's talking about how badly Oakland got beat in week 1 against the Titans. C'mon folks... it was  THE TITANS. That loss shouldn't even count against Raiders. The Titans are not synonymous with the term "scrubs", but the Rams come close to it, though. Rams 7- Oakland 14

New England vs New York Jets: Probably the least exciting game this week. I expect the Patriots to ride the Jets shotgun into the end zone, often. Patriots 35 - Jets

Jacksonville vs San Diego: Three words: Maurice Jones-Drew. Proof that its hard to keep a good man down. Week 1 showed David Garrard playing with a lot more heart and a lot less fear than normal. San Diego got mangled Monday night, so they are anxious to prove something. If Garrard doesn't choke...Jaguars 31 - Chargers 21

Houston vs Washington: I think the Texans proved that they are serious contenders this year. They pretty much swept the field with the Colts last week. Look for the sweeping to continue in week 2. Texans 27 - Redskins 17

New York Giants vs Indianapolis: This won't be the best game this week, but it will be watched with great interest. Eli has been getting symbolic noogies from big brother Peyton for years via Superbowl rings. However, the Colts are not playing with any real heart. Stand by for another case of "the dropsy's". Giants 35 - Colts 27

New Orleans vs San Francisco: I can smell the victory Gumbo brewing already. As much as I love the 49ers, the Saints are gonna second-line all over their defense.Saints 33 - 49ers 7

Buffalo Vs Green Bay: (sigh) The Bills are so dysfunctional, its difficult to even call them a team. The Packers are no joke, and they should have the last laugh in this game Bills 3 - Packers 35

Can't wait until Monday night.
