Fantasy Football: Who to Start/Sit for Week 2
Here’s some sit and start advice as you set your lineups for the second week of the NFL season.
Quarterbacks
Start—Michael Vick
He looked his old self carving up the Packers for 103 yards on the ground to go along with 175 passing yards and a score. This week he faces the Lions.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Sit—David Garrard
Before you get excited about his three-TD performance, remember it came at home. Last year he had 12 TDs in eight home games and just three in eight road games. He takes on the Chargers in San Diego this week.
Joe Flacco
Flacco averaged 190.5 yards in two meeting with Cincinnati last year. He had 1 TD to four INTs. He’s playing on the road where he was dramatically worse (75.8 passer rating, 57.7 completion percentage, 199.3 ypg, 9 TDs, 8 INTs compared to 101.5, 68.4%, 252.4 ypg, 12 TDs, 4 INTs at home).
Running Backs
Start—Darren McFadden
McFadden follows up a 150 total yard (95 rushing), 1 TD (receiving) effort with a solid matchup against St. Louis.
Brandon Jackson
With Ryan Grant out Brandon Jackson gets the cushy match-up against the Bills. Look for him to contribute in both the ground game and in the passing game.
Sit—Brandon Jacobs
The Colts are going to be mad. They usually don’t lose until sometime in November. The Texans did a good job of controlling the clock against Indianapolis, but Arian Foster is more like Ahmad Bradshaw than Jacobs. The Giants are going to have to be quick and lean to beat the Colts. Jacobs doesn’t fit the bill.
The Vikings have had an extended time to lick their wounds. They face the Dolphins at home and will look to get back to stopping the run. Running backs averaged just 48.3 yards on the road last year without a TD. In contrast, he averaged 91 ypg at home with 8 TDs.
Wide Receivers
Start—Steve Breaston
Derek Anderson clearly has chemistry issues with Larry Fitzgerald. Fitz also commands so much attention that Breaston is free to make plays. I don’t see another 132 yard effort, but he should be productive against the Falcons.
Austin Collie
Sure, the 73 yard score skews his production, but without that catch he had nine catches for 58 yards. Clearly he’s a player Peyton Manning has faith in. It’s easy to overlook Collie with the likes of Wayne, Garcon, and Clark, but he’s not overlooked by the person that matters the most—Peyton Manning.
Sit—Mike Sims-Walker
Jacksonville’s passing game on the road is significantly worse on the road, not that it’s great at home. Sims-Walker has been virtually invisible in six of his last seven games dating back to Week 12 last year.
Moss’ head is not in the right place. He rarely plays when he’s like this. Factor in his date with Revis Island (58 yards in two games) and it could be an ugly sight.

Tight Ends
Start—John Carlson
The Seahawks looked much better in the passing game than I expected. Carlson was second on the team in targets. He faces Denver, who allowed two TDs to tight end Marcedes Lewis last week.
Sit—Heath Miller
Pittsburgh’s injuries on the offensive line will likely require Miller staying back in pass protection more than had been anticipated.
Kicker
Start—John Kasay
Takes on Tampa Bay at home. He had three FGs last year in Week 13 against Tampa at home last year.
Sit—Jason Hanson
Keep Hanson on your bench. Without Stafford, I don’t expect Philadelphia to allow many points.
Defenses
Start—Carolina Panthers
The Panthers picked off Eli Manning three times, recovered a fumble, and had a sack. Tampa, and second-year QB Josh Freeman, gave up two turnovers and three sacks to Cleveland.
Sit—San Francisco 49ers
Even if they get their heads screwed on straight following a Mike Singletary tongue-lashing, they still have to deal with the Saints, who had extra time to prepare.
