Dethroned: Five Men Who Could Become the New Faces of the WWE

RiZESep 16, 2010

Now we all know that we're living in the Cena/PG Era. But you've gotta wonder, Who's the next poster boy? That question has haunted me for the past four years. Since the day I began reading some of the magnificent slideshows on B/R, I've been creating this one. Even taking notes from WWE's show every week.

If thats not dedication I don't know the meaning of the word.

I for one, can't imagine the WWE without John Cena. But I'm refuse to let myself live in a fantasy world. Cena, no matter what he says, will eventually depart from the WWE, For movies? maybe, For TNA? Doubt it, but it's going to happen.

Now I know we all have high hopes for The Viper and Mr. Awesome himself the Miz.

But those guys have very stiff competition. Knowing McMahon, he could catapult anybody he wants to the top of the WWE. Don't think so?

Ask Sheamus. The weeks leading in to his match with Cena at TLC, last year. He was set to lose. Until the day of the ppv that is. Shows WWE  can be very unpredictable because I didn't give the Human Jar of Mayonnaise a chance at winning the WWE Title.

Everything is not what it seems, but I'm going to put my opinions to the test.

So here you have, WWE's next posterboy's are....

Randy Orton

1 of 6

Let's start with one of the two guys we all think is going to succeed Cena. Randy Orton. Now many argue that these guys have been in the WWE around the same amount of time. Problem with that is, Orton for the majority of his career, was a heel.

It's very rare to have a Heel as the face of the company. Yeah I don't care about Triple H dominating the World Heavyweight Title on RAW for a large amount of time. Fact is, he was never established as the Top Guy. Just used to get over.

The good thing about it is, Randy's no longer a face. Since Wrestlemania I've had my mind set that this guy would dethrone John Cena. The guy gets louder pops than John Cena! He has the support of the older fan base.

So I don't think he's a lock for the position yet. WWE will throw us IWC a curve ball at any time. One minute Orton the next David Otunga. What are the odds?

Plus Monday, Orton ALMOST beat John Cena clean. Who can say they've beat him clean before? Not many. I consider the victory clean.

Despite the tons of interference, both were getting jumped by the others.

Another amazing RKO by the Viper.

The Miz

They say Vince McMahon calls this guy the next face of the WWE. Looking at the role he's been on lately. Who am I to disagree? Yeah I know most of you would say the guy can't wrestle. Well a month ago I would've said the exact same thing. After watching some of his latest matches I would be a fool to say that.

Like Hellbilly would say, The Miz is above average in the ring. Yeah he definitely is. He may never be able  to hold a candle to Daniel Bryan but he's the best wrestler in the world. Go figure.

The Miz does have something that will take him all the way to the top. His ability to cut a decent promo. He's great dude. Funny at times, serious most of the time. Ask Chad Ochocinco. He roasted his like Thanksgiving turkey.

Chad looked like he didn't even have a proper response.

The Miz is carrying around a sure fire WWE Championship reign. The Money in the Bank Contract. Doesn't get much better than that.

His recent match with Cena proved to me he is definitely improving. He was dominating Cena for the majority of the match. Another sign that maybe it's time to usher an a new era.

The Era of Awesome.

Maybe it begins this Sunday? Me and most you think so.

Wade Barrett

3 of 6

This guy has everything going for him right now. He is the leader of the Most powerful entity in the WWE. He's the winner of NXT Season one. He's got a title match this Sunday. Because of the Nexus, he's my odds on favorite to win the WWE Title.

People, Wade Barrett is on a rocket ship to the moon and he has four co-pilots. Wade is already a pro on the mic. Only being here like six months. Work leads to improvement this guy is a prime example of hard work. If you've ever seen this guy in FCW, you would know someday he was going to be a star.

Once again, Wade has a lot working against him. I don't think WWE wants a heel to represent them. Especially not one needing four other guys to win matches. That wouldn't get Wade over to well with fans,

Just ask Triple H.

I think the Nexus should end their run. The angle was so hot, now its getting to that point where I hate to see them.

Wade needs to establish himself as a legitimate star. Leave the Nexus behind is my advice.

Daniel Bryan

4 of 6

The so called "Internet Darling" himself Daniel Bryan. The guys only been here a few months, but his popularity has surged. Even though he took part in that first beatdown of Cena, they still chanted his name after his release. We all know Bryan was plagued by strange circumstances, but he's back now and better than ever.

The best wrestler in the world will undoubtedly win the U.S. Title this Sunday. Starting on a road that will take Bryan all the way to the top. The mic skills are steadily improving each week. Lets just hope the Miz's ability to cut promo's rubs off on Bryan when he's kicking Miz's teeth in Sunday.

Bryan has the tools. There's not much need for improvement for the American Dragon. Except his size. Most people would argue, Vince McMahon doesn't push smaller superstars. Well Cena asked him to push Evan Bourne and he did.

Though it didn't last as long as it should've it worked. Instead of Cena, McMahon will have millions of Bryan fans breathing down his back about their hero. If Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero can win the World Titles at their size, why can't Bryan?

Exactly, Y2J was also believed to be held back but he overcame it, now he's a six time World Champion. The first being the Undisputed Title.

With continuing fan support I believe Bryan could very well replace John Cena in the future.

CM Punk

5 of 6

The Straight Edge Messiah is already a three time World Champion. Though as of late he has been seriously misused. I believe the turning point will be Sunday, when David defeats Goliath. Yes I believe CM Punk will some how defeat the Big Show at Night of Champions.

Punk's slowly getting back on the right side of things. Dominating the Phenom last week, before making one mistake that cost him the match. CM Punks promo cutting can be considered the best in the WWE. I believe he beats the Miz in that category.

The promo on the 900th episode of RAW was indeed a saving grace, but it couldn't save that show. It was just to horrible. Punk just seems like he knows how to push the right buttons for people to hate him. Once again the guys a heel.

All he has to do is dump the SES, because they're just holding him back at this point. Slowly get his fanbase back, like the Viper did earlier this year. Not exactly establish himself a face, but as a Anti Hero.

Still supporting his Straight Edge lifestyle. Bringing back some of his old moves, like the Springboard Clothesline. Typical crowd pleaser's but thats what faces do. Entertain the crowd to the best of their ability. Just ask John Morrison.

The Messiah has a long way to go, But WWE can turn this situation in a matter of seconds if they wanted to.
