NFL Picks Week 2: Predicting The Five Biggest Upsets Of The Weekend

Elias TrejoSep 16, 2010

Last week I predicted five upsets to happen and I guessed four of them right. In week two picking five upsets is a bit harder than last week.

There are plenty of underdogs this weekend, but the odds of them winning are not very good. Some of these picks may seem out of line, but that is why you call them upsets.

Last week was a very low scoring week for the NFL, this week could be very different. It's no time to panic if you lost last week, but this week is crucial for a lot of teams.

Let's find out which teams will find themselves in a bad situation after a week two upset.

Kansas City Loses to Cleveland Browns

The Browns lost the Buccaneers last week and I can totally see why, but this week they host the Kansas City Chiefs who just had a big upset over the San Diego Chargers.

Special teams was huge for the Chiefs and now they visit one of the teams who knows how important special teams are.

Dexter McCluster won the AFC Special teams player of the week and he will face possibly the AFC Special Teams Player of the last couple years, Josh Cribbs.

The Browns will defeat the Chiefs in a special teams battle and a special teams mistake will be the key to the game.

Browns 7 Chiefs 6 after a Chiefs missed extra point.

Baltimore Ravens Lose To Cincinnati Bengals

I almost chose the Bengals to beat the Patriots last week, but playing in Foxboro is no easy task for any team. This week they play host to the Ravens and this game should be a shoot out.

The Ravens are coming off of a physical low scoring battle with the New York Jets. The Jets offense and the Bengals offense are night and day.

Look for this game to be physical but be high scoring as well. The Ravens secondary has not been tested and the Bengals are well aware of that. Not having Ed Reed back there will be a big advantage for the Bengals.

Bengals win on a Terrell Owens touchdown in overtime. 33-27

Jacksonville Jaguars Defeat San Diego Chargers

The Jaguars barely escaped with a win over the Denver Broncos at home last week. The San Diego Chargers suffered a defeat to the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium in week one.

Now these teams meet in San Diego and the Chargers are in trouble.

The Chargers always have slow starts to the season, but they roar back towards the end and win the AFC West title by default.

Expect a heavy dose of Maurice Jones-Drew and look for the Jaguars defense to come up big against the Chargers.

Not having Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeil make the Chargers a different team.

Jaguars win 24-17

Chicago Bears Over Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys were victims of an upset last week when the Redskins beat them at home. Something doesn't look right in Dallas.

They have one of the most talented teams on offense but they haven't showed it in the preseason or in game one.

The Bears now have an offense that is supposed to be a high flying and high scoring machine. Look for both offenses to erupt at times in this game.

There appears to be a lot of pressure on the Cowboys this season and it could be getting them.

Look for Jay Cutler and Matt Forte to have big games.

Bears win 28-27 when Cowboys kicker misses a late game winning field goal.

Miami Dolphins Defeat Minnesota Vikings

With all the talk about the Jets and Patriots in the AFC East everyone is forgetting about the Dolphins.

I picked them to win their division this year and I will stand by that until the Patriots pull away towards the end of the season.

The Vikings offense didn't look great on opening day against the Saints. Not having Sidney Rice will hurt Favre during the season.

Percy Harvin and Adrian Peterson appear to be Favre's best options as of now, but that may not be enough against this Dolphins defense.

Look for this to be a physical game all day. The Wildcat vs Adrian Peterson, Chad Henne vs Grandpa Favre should highlight this game.

Dolphins win 20-17 when Greg Camarillo drops a crucial fourth down pass late in the fourth quarter.
