Crossing The (Goal) Line NFL Edition: September 14, 2010
The NFL has finally begun! No more preseason games, we’ve got week 1 of games that count under our belt. I went 10-5 to start the NFL season.
The Jets and Chiefs had great crowds on Monday night. Their stadiums were electric. Quarterback play dominated the first weekend in many games. It just shows you need a good QB to win in the NFL. The 49ers and Raiders were very disappointing and have left fans with a lot of doubts after raised expectations heading in to the season. Here’s a recap of the week 1 action starting the 2010 NFL season.

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Minnesota Vikings lost at New Orleans Saints 14-9 – Not as high scoring as expected but the Saints were able to shut down Brett Favre and get the W.
Cleveland Browns lost at Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-14 – A nice win for Tampa that should give their young team confidence for a while
Miami Dolphins won at Buffalo Bills 15-10 – Trent Edwards struggled with making plays down the field.
Cincinnati Bengals lost at New England Patriots 38-24 – The Bengals have to show up in the first quarter, they can’t wait around and expect to beat a good team.
Carolina Panthers lost at New York Giants 31-18 – Matt Moore’s bad decisions cost the Panthers. The Giants defense is improving but isn’t at the Super Bowl level of a few years ago.
Oakland Raiders lost at Tennessee Titans 38-13 – Raiders just fell flat in this one. Chris Johnson had a typical game and led the Titans to an easy win.
Denver Broncos lost at Jacksonville Jaguars 24-17 – Tim Tebow didn’t have much of an impact. The Jags defense proved to be too much in continually being able to make plays when they needed it.
Indianapolis Colts lost at Houston Texans 34-24 – Arian Foster was outstanding in shredding the Colts defense. If you haven’t heard of this runner yet, you need to watch him. A gigantic win for the Texans.
Detroit Lions lost at Chicago Bears 19-14 – The Lions were robbed. Jay Cutler and Mike Martz look like a good tandem after one week but they need to score more points with those kind of stats.
Atlanta Falcons lost at Pittsburgh Steelers 15-9 (OT) – An awful start of the season for Matt Ryan. He’s got to play better or Atlanta is going to lose a lot of games. Good job though by Dennis Dixon to keep the Steelers in the game.
Arizona Cardinals won at St. Louis Rams 17-13 – Derek Anderson is not off to a good start. The Rams came close as Sam Bradford played pretty well. Steve Breaston saved the day for the Cards.
San Francisco 49ers lost at Seattle Seahawks 31-6 – Alex Smith looked awful and the Niners went up 6-0, only to give up 31 unanswered. Mike Singletary had to explode in the lockerroom after that dreadful performance.
Green Bay Packers won at Philadelphia Eagles 27-20 – Aaron Rodgers showed how potent the offense can be and the D knocked Kevin Kolb out of the game.
Dallas Cowboys lost at Washington Redskins 13-7 – The Cowboys have got to get rid of Alex Barron after that performance on Sunday night. They know they should have won that game but gave it away to the rival Redskins.
Baltimore Ravens won at New York Jets 10-9 – A defensive battle that exposed the horrendous Jets offense. Their turnovers and inability to move the ball more than two yards at a time.
San Diego Chargers lost at Kansas City Chiefs 21-14
– The rookies on Kansas City came up huge. Their offense was atrocious as they had too many three and outs. Luckily the defense and special teams played great and carried them to victory. San Diego couldn’t stand the rain.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Arian Foster (RB – Texans) – 231 yards on the ground against the Colts in helping the Texans get a big win.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: LaRon Landry (DB – Redskins) – 17 tackles is impressive for one game.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Seattle Seahawks – put a beat down on the 49ers and look like the team to beat in the NFC West now.
