Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis's Mouth Gets Him in Trouble Again
If you host a radio talk show, there are fewer athletes in this world you'd rather have on as a guest than Clinton Portis.
He's a man who speaks his mind and does it truthfully. He may not say the smartest thing in the world or even the most politically correct thing in the world, but you know for a fact that it's his opinion and not some sugar coated public relations speech.
Which brings us to the all new S-storm revolving around comments Portis made on the Mike Wise Show on 106.7 The Fan in Washington D.C.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Portis was asked about the PR nightmare with the New York Jets as they are being accused of sexual harassment of Mexico City reporter Inez Sainz.
Now mind you that Sainz has not filed any charges and another reporter brought this to light. In fact Sainz has said she feels embarrassed by all of the attention she has received over it.
Portis being Portis (we all remember his comments about dog fighting after the whole Michael Vick arrest) had this to offer about the situation:
"You know man, I think you put women reporters in the locker room in positions to see guys walking around naked, and you sit in the locker room with 53 guys, and all of the sudden you see a nice woman in the locker room, I think men are gonna tend to turn and look and want to say something to that woman. For the woman, I think they make it so much that you can't interact and you can't be involved with athletes, you can't talk to these guys, you can't interact with these guys.
"And I mean, you put a woman and you give her a choice of 53 athletes, somebody got to be appealing to her. You know, somebody got to spark her interest, or she's gonna want somebody
. I don't know what kind of woman won't, if you get to go and look at 53 men's packages. And you're just sitting here, saying 'Oh, none of this is attractive to me.' I know you're doing a job, but at the same time, the same way I'm gonna cut my eye if I see somebody worth talking to, I'm sure they do the same thing." (Transcribed from the D.C. Sports Bog by Dan Steinberg)
And of course the NFL and the Redskins had a problem with his comments and yesterday afternoon had him release an apology.
To be completely honest, I have absolutely no problem with what Portis said.
Was what he said smart? Nope.
Was what he said politically correct? Nope.
So why don't I have a problem with it?
First off I live in the real world. A world where there are wars, famine, and down right ass-hats on every street corner.
Nothing in the real world is politically correct. The halo we throw around anyone who is a public figure, be it athlete, actor, or politician is ridiculous.
No one is perfect and the world would be down right boring if we tried to censor everything they had to say.
Also what Clinton Portis said was absolutely true.
You put anyone of any sex in a room filled with 53 in shape people of their sexual preference and they are bound to be attracted to one of them, and on the flip side of that one of those 53 people is bound to be attracted to that one person.
Portis didn't say that what may have taken place at the Jets' facility was necessarily right, but he pretty much stated a biological fact (in his own way) about human sexual behavior.
Also Portis had every right to say what he said.
Whether you agree with what he said or not, Clinton is a United States citizen, and being one he is granted his First Amendment rights to freedom of speech.
I'm sure the NFL would love to have a league full of Peyton Mannings that no matter what happens he always says the nicest prettiest things, but that just isn't the case.
The NFL is made up of nearly 1,700 players and believe me when I tell you they are going to differ on opinion a lot and say things the league will wish they didn't say.
Like I said earlier, Portis will talk when a microphone is put in front of him and what he says won't be some rehearsed speech that Commissioner Rodger Goodell will always smile about.
Clinton is going to tell you exactly what he thinks on the subject, good or bad, and I'm glad he does.
