AFC East: Baltimore Slips By the New York Jokes

Tony SantorsaSep 13, 2010

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The New York Jets mission statement entering this season was very simply put: "Super Bowl or bust."

Well, the Jets' self-anticipated path to the Super Bowl started off on the wrong foot against the Baltimore Ravens Monday night.

The New York Jets, or "Jokes", played like pretenders during tonight's loss 10-9 at the New Meadowlands Stadium.

Both teams played great defense all night, but Baltimore's offense proved to be more productive and clutch. Baltimore faced 3rd and long multiple times Monday night, and converged a good amount of those conversions.

New York on the other hand only recorded six first downs. Yes, that's right, only six.

Starting with the quarterback, which Rex Ryan stated he just needed to be a "point guard" out there, played terrible.

Sanchez completed 10 of his 21 passes while only gaining 74 yards.

Also, Sanchez, the "point guard", didn't seem to have the weapons that Ryan anticipated out there.

New Yorks' young tailback, Shonn Greene, didn't play up to expectations. Greene, who is supposed to be replacing last years lead back Thomas Jones. And tonight, he only gained 18 yards and coughing up two fumbles, one being lost.

Let's be realistic here, now matter how much Rex Ryan and the show "Hard Knocks" hyped this football team up to be is irrelevant. If this team wants respect, they need to play like self-called Super Bowl contenders.

The Jets will welcome the New England Patriots (1-0) next week, and the Jets could be in for a rough game. Or should I say "Jokes?"
