WWE Raw Season Premiere (9/13/10) Results and Thoughts
Hello Bleachers! This is my first article covering live events so hopefully I do a good job of this. As we know, they brought back the Raw Roulette and this episode is supposed to be the Season Premiere. We should see a lot of Stipulation matches and should see a few great matches or one can only hope. Let's get to it!
Results:
Anyway, Raw starts with Cena and Orton staring each other down in front of the Roulette Wheel. Josh Mathews goes over a few possiblities, such as the Cage Match or even...a Pillow fight? Go ahead WWE. Make Cena and Orton do a Pillow fight. You've had them do an hour long Iron Man Match, a Hell in a Cell. What else haven't they done yet? Anyway, they spin the wheel and it lands on...Tables Match! Pretty good, should be a good main event. Orton smirks and walks away. Josh reminds Cena that Cena lost his WWE title in a Tables match at TLC and I thought Cena was gonna attack Josh. Instead, he says he wants to leave that past behind him because its THE RAW SEASON PREMIERE! That's new.

Fresh Backstage WWE Rumors 👊

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Chad Ochocinco is out and is talking about whatever and The Miz interrupts. He says that he can connect with Ochocinco except Ochocinco hasn't won any titles. He goes to say his catchphrase but the GM interrupts and Miz's match is a Submission match. The GM says that Ochocinco decides the opponent. He chooses the man that has "85 ways to tap you out." Okay. Well its Daniel Bryan though the match is ended when Miz claims he has a hernia and puts in Alex Riley in his place. Well Riley pretty much taps out instantly and Miz attacks Bryan, then goes to hit the SCF until Bryan counters into LeBell lock. A lot of momentum for Bryan going into NOC.
Backstage, Jillian spins the Roulette and starts singing "Right Round" by those one guys, I don't know. Anyway, Edge is with her singing too, so its at least kind of funny. Well, we go to commercial with the wheel still spinning. Edge comes out and his opponent is Evan Bourne. Thank god its not Khali right? Well, it turns out the match is a body slam contest. Hmm, okay. Good luck Evan. Well, I'm not gonna count him out yet. Well the match is alright, its pretty short though and as I thought, Edge body slams Evan. Oh well at least its over. Oh wait, Edge just speared Evan. Okay, Edge is a heel so-oh wait there's that annoying GM again. He claims that he's mad that Edge did that so he has to participate in another bodyslam contest against "this man"...Mark Henry. God, I seriously thought it was gonna be Henry or Khali. Oh well, at least Henry can wrestle. Well, the match is just as short as Bourne-Edge and Edge almost body slams Henry, but Henry hits the World's Strongest Slam and apparantly that counts. Okay sure. Well at least its oer. Edge deserves better than that.
So, we're back from commecial and DiBiase is in the ring with Maryse. Cole announces that its a "Song and Dance" competition. They couldn't resist could they? Well R-Truth comes out with Eve, for some reason, and gets in the ring. He's obviously going to rap...but wait! Not that song! We already heard that song! R-Truth busts out a new rap about getting Crunk! It was actually really good and is better than the old, tired "What's Up" that summons Truth. And Eve can actually dance pretty good! Well, DiBiase claims that its stupid and that he should just forfeit...but then he decides to do it anyway. Okay, fine. He starts singing Sinatra and he sucks. And Maryse sucks at dancing. And the whole thing just isn't good at all anymore. Well, I wasn't paying attention at this point, but DiBiase and Maryse start brawling with Truth and Eve, which ends with DiBiase and Maryse running away. Oh well, I guess the point of this was to introduce R-Truth's new song.
Backstage, we have Ochocinco and the Bellas. Why are they always surrounding the guest host??? Anyway, they are talking about a Pillow fight when the camera pans out and we see William Regal. Apparantly, Regal is the one whose match is being decided. Good, he needs face time. Well, it lands on a "Trading Places" match. What is that? Well, Regal wonders the same and Ochocinco says its a match where you dress up as your opponent. Guess what? His opponent is Goldust. It should be entertaining...Well Sheamus comes in to spin his wheel. Ochocinco says that he is facing Morrison and if Morrison wins, he gets Jericho's spot! AWESOME! Well, the match is falls count anywhere. Random but okay. Sheamus claims he's gonna win and all that.
We come back from commercial and Edge is in the back pacing. Zack Ryder comes up and asks what the GM's problem with Edge is. I like this feud Edge and the GM are having! Well, Ryder says something about Edge messing around with the GM's girlfriend and Edge calls Ryder a tool. Ryder comes out with "I told you, I'm not a tool, okay? I'm not a tool!" Haha, classic. Or as Michael Cole would say, vintage. Anyway, Edge boasts that he'll win at Night of Champions and Sheamus comes in and says don't hold your breath. Ryder pops out with "BURN!" Haha, he's such a tool. Anyway, it shows Morrison doing chin ups or something and then a little showcase of Parkour. It was pretty impressive and nice buildup. Morrison looked like a ninja man. Sheamus' music pops up and we're on commercial.
After the break, Morrison comes out looking very serious before flashing a cocky smile. Pretty good pop from the crowd. Anyway the match starts and Sheamus gets in early offense. Morrison tries for a rollup but not even 2. Sheamus back on offense until Morrison gets in an impressive dropkick. The match ends up outside with Morrison hitting a hurricanrana. Pretty impressive. Morrison ends up flipping Sheamus into the crowd before diving over the barricade himself. Guess this match is gonna end up all over the place. Sheamus gets back on offense and slams Morrison, stomach first, into a stray steel barricade. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick, but Morrison swiftly dodges and Sheamus hits some equipment and sparks fly. Sheamus stays on offense and starts dominating Morrison. The match is now on the ramp right in front of the entranceway. Morrison reverses a hold and almost pushes Sheamus toward the edge of the ramp. Sheamus back on offense and throws Morrison off the ramp, but Morrison flips and lands on his feet! Wow, it was amazing. This guy is the future Shawn Michaels. The match continues beside the entrance way, and Sheamus grabs a chair. Morrison disappears and is on top of the entranceway! Wow, and he hits a crossbody. Well, Sheamus kicks out and Jericho comes out and hits Morrison with the chair. Crap...Sheamus with the pin...one..two..three. UGH!!! NO! Well, Jericho is sitting in the chair in the middle of the ring and it goes to a splitscreen of Cena and Orton and mentions that the main event will be a tables match. Can't wait, should be good.
Jericho in the ring with a mic. He's just staring into the crowd not saying anything...Classic Jericho man. He announces that hes "not going anywhere until he gets exactly what he wants!" He says he'll sit in the chair all night if he has to to get what he wants. Jericho wants back in the 6 pack (5 pack?) challenge. He puts down Morrison saying its "lunacy" to think he could replace him. Jericho says that if he doesn't get what he wants...he quits...He says that he'll go home laughing as the WWE burns up in flames. Jericho says that he'll track down the GM and expose him before he leaves. Finally the GM pops in and Cole goes to announce but Jericho calls him an idiot and to just read the e-mail. The GM says he doesn't like ultimatums and there's no chance, no chance in hell, that will work. Jericho announces that he knows its not Vince as Vince wouldn't hide behind a computer or not utilize his most valuable asset. The GM pops in again and Michael Cole tries to announce but Jericho yells to shut up and get on with it. The GM says that Jericho is back in and that the 6 pack challenge will be 6 pack elimination challenge. Cool, now whoever wins won't be lucky. Should be a good match. Jericho interrupts Cole and says thanks and tries to leave but the GM chimes in and says that Jericho can only be in the match if he wins his match...a handicap match...against the Hart Dynasty. And its gonna be a steel cage. Jericho yells at Cole and has to compete in a suit. Come on Jericho, you have to beat these two. They don't even defend their titles OR WRESTLE! It should be easy.
We're back from commercial and Jericho is about to get out of the cage but the Hart Dynasty stop him. They are dominating Jericho and the Hart Dynasty go for the escape. DHS is out but Jericho stops Tyson Kidd. Nice. Smart move there. Well Kidd gets early offense and a near fall, but Jericho turns things around with a clothesline. Jericho hits Kidd a few times then yells at the GM. The door opens and Kidd almost gets the escape but Jericho quickly stops him. Jericho begins dominating Kidd with a back suplex. Kidd starts getting back on the offense with an arm whip and then a drop kick and begins dominating until Jericho is whipped to the corner and Jericho tries to run up the cage. He's stopped by Kidd but he tries for the Walls. Kidd reverses and gets the Sharpshooter. Please don't let the Master of Submission....nope, he doesn't. Well Kidd tries to go for the escape, but is stopped by Jericho. They're on the side of the cage battling, until Jericho hits the Walls and Kidd taps. Jericho's back in!!! Congratulations to Chris Jericho!
We are reminded that the main event is Cena vs Orton in a Tables match. Regal vs Goldust is next and Goldust is out wearing a wig and Regal attire. Out comes Regal and he looks pretty good as Goldust. Haha. Well Regal hits the pose and Goldust dons some brass knuckles and hits Regal once and gets the pin. Okay. Not so entertaining but okay.
Next is the main event. John Cena vs Randy Orton in a Tables match. First we have a quick promo for Night of Champions recapping every match. Can't help but notice an absence of the tag titles. Hopefully Smackdown will announce it? Ochocinco is out to announce the ring announcer...himself. Yeah yeah, try to get heat idiot. Anyway he introduces Orton first to a big pop. We see a recap from last week's main event and it shows all four RKOs but not the weird spasm Orton did. Guess Orton was embarrassed. Ochocinco announces Cena but says he's from "Newbury, Massachusetts." Thought it was West Newbury? Whatever, Ochocinco proved he should never be handed a mic. The match finally starts and they're locked up. The crowd starts chanting "Cena" at one point, but Orton powers out of the move he's locked in. We here "RKO" chants now. The crowd doesn't know who they're behind haha. Anyway, Orton stays on the offense and goes to suplex Cena through a table, but Cena pushes Orton and Orton almost goes through the table...commercial break...We're back and there's nice back and forth. Tables are surrounding the ring but none have been used yet. Both men are very impressive tonight. Cena hit a pretty good Fisherman's suplex at one point. Well we wind up with both guys on the mat after a double clothesline (Seems to happen a lot in Cena matches). Cena goes for the AA (darn you Michael Cole) but Orton counters with a DDT. A table is finally brought into the ring and put in the corner. Cena hits with the shoulder tackles and back suplex thing. Then the 5 knuckle shuffle, and then a failed AA. Orton spazzes like crazy and somehow ends up in the STF. The Nexus comes out (I was wondering when they would show). Tarver eats an RKO, but the rest go after Orton. Cena with the AA to Otunga, then sends Slater through a table. Barrett hits the Wasteland on Cena and the only guys in the ring are Cena (on the ground), Barrett, and Gabriel. Barrett goes for a table and place Cena and they prepare for a 450 through the table. Orton pushes Gabriel off the top rope through a table but Barrett Big Boots Orton. he places orton in the Wasteland but Orton puts Barrett through a table. Cena's on the ground and Orton looks like he's gonna go CRAZY!!! Can't wait to see the spasm! Edge and Jericho come out and attack Orton. Guess we should've seen it coming. Now all we need is Sheamus. Orton moves out of the way of a Spear that ends up putting Jericho through a table. Sheamus is out and starts attacking Cena and Orton. Sheamus is out and Cena goes for the AA through a table on Orton. Orton somehow countered into an RKO and Orton wins. Epic Win man. Just awesome. Bodies surrounding the ring and all through tables and Randy Orton stands victorious in the ring. Can't wait for NOC.
Final Thoughts:
Raw was pretty good tonight! The main event was good and had a great ending, but the Morrison match stole the show. Morrison was about to claim himself a spot in the Six Pack Challenge but was taken out by Jericho. Hopes something happens to push Morrison even further! I also hope we find some challengers for the tag titles on Smackdown. Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan have a lot of momentum going into NOC and could possibly be a sign of things to come for them.
The only negative thing I have to say is that they had a couple of stupid moments. The Song and Dance competition was meaningless and was only a way to introduce R-Truth's new music. The song is good but maybe they could've just had him come out with it. Oh well, its supposed to be a crowd sing along so they needed the crowd to know what to say. Also, the Goldust-Regal thing was degrading but amusing at the same time. The match could'e been great but they had to keep it this short because of the main event.
I kinda made this long but some of the matches were worth covering play-by-play. If you read through the entire thing, then you deserve a medal. Thank you for reading and like it and leave comments.
