Jonathan FrayneSep 14, 2010

With Week 1 of the regular season all wrapped up, let's look at the rookies who stood out in their first taste of regular season action.

TE Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots - The undersized tight end out of Florida flashed his big play ability with a 45-yard catch and run early on against the Bengals.

TE Jermaine Gresham, Bengals - Another tight end, first round pick Jermaine Gresham had six receptions for the Bengals, including a one-yard touchdown.

WR Mike Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - With the departure of Antonio Bryant, the Buccaneers need someone to step up, and Mike Williams looked impressive against Cleveland. He grabbed five receptions including a touchdown where he showed good concentration to haul in a tipped ball.

WR Dexter McCluster, Kansas City Chiefs - Nobody could catch Dexter McCluster on Monday Night Football. The little man fielded a punt, burst through a hole and 94 yards later, he was in the endzone. His 94-yard punt return for a touchdown was the longest in Chiefs history.

WR Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys - Playing in his first game in almost a year, 24th overall pick Bryant was targeted 12 times and caught a Cowboys rookie record eight balls for 56 yards.

RB Jahvid Best, Detroit Lions - Despite being shutdown by the stingy Bears' defense, and amassing only 20 rushing yards, the former Cal speedster found the endzone twice for the Lions with touchdown runs of seven and four yards.

S Nate Allen, Eagles - The rookie safety out of South Florida recorded five tackles and picked off Aaron Rodgers for his first NFL career interception.

Tyson Alualu (Jaguars), Koa Misi (Dolphins) Derrick Morgan (Titans) Ndamukong Suh (Lions) and Dexter Davis (Seahawks) all recorded sacks in their first games. Other rookies who deserve mentions are DB Aaron Berry, Lions, who grabbed a pick and Panthers DE Greg Hardy who had a forced fumble.
