NFL 2010 Week 1: Dallas Cowboys Falter On the Road In D.C.
It is the same old story with the Dallas Cowboys. A team that always has the hype, but the lights go on and the stage is set, these Cowboys fail to deliver.
During the entire preseason the concerns and problems surrounded around Tony Romo and the offense finding a way to get the football in the end zone.
Last night on the road against the Washington Redskins it was the inability to put points on the board that left the Cowboys to start the season 0-1.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The defense was strong only allowing two field goals. It was the fault of Coach Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett who decided to not take a knee at the end of the first half, which resulted in a Tashard Choice fumble into a DeAngelo Hall touchdown return.
A 3-0 deficit was now 10-0, as the Cowboys went into the locker room. More than that Dallas just didn't execute on the offensive end. Yes, they were able to move the ball in bunches, but superstars find a way to score touchdowns.
The holding call on Alex Barron at the end of the game was pretty clear. Roy Williams was wide-open but the only reason Romo was even able to make that pass was because Barron had his opponent by the throat.
Barron who was traded from the Rams leads the league in holding penalties over the last few years. He had three alone last night, and one was at the end of the first half before the disaster touchdown that Washington scored.
McNabb was inaccurate and was far from impressive. He has aging running backs behind him and some of the least talented wide receivers in the entire league.
If Dallas is supposed to be this big-time Super Bowl contender in their home stadium come February 2011 a lot has to change now.
Romo threw the ball 47 times. The Cowboys will not win many games with the quarterback having to throw the football that much. It just won't happen.
They need to establish the running game whether it is Barber or Jones. I don't like the whole Choice wildcat package either. That is only going to have minimal success at best. His turnover was a game-changer last night.
Dallas needs to get healthy up-front. They need to have Kyle Kozier and Marc Colombo back up-front protecting Romo.
The penalties Dallas had last night also provided Washington with extra yards and possessions, not to mention it ended the football game.
Jason Garrett also has to get Jason Witten more involved in the offense. Last year he caught at least four passes in every game.
Last night he only managed three catches for 27 yards.
The NFC East is ultra-competitive and Dallas can't afford to lose games like this. If they continue to do that then they are going to have a hard time making the playoffs.
Jerry Jones will not stand for anything but winning. That even means if he has to fire Wade Phillips who many people believe can't bring the Cowboys to a Super Bowl.
It's only week one and the news in Big D is already sizzling.
It sure should be a fun season one way or another.
