NFL 2010 Week 1 Bleacher Report Awards: Tim Tebow Is Here To Stay

Brian DiTullioSep 13, 2010

The first week of fun in the sun for the NFL is in the books (except for two Monday night games), and it's time to reflect on the action and hand out some awards.

Some of these awards are good and some of these awards are bad—that's just the way it is in the NFL and here at Bleacher Report Awards Central.

For those who thought Tim Tebow was going to disappear after the regular season started—psych!

So Tebow will be receiving an award, as will several other players and teams.

It's always a fun ride here at Awards Central, so let's get going!

Player Of The Week: Arian Foster

Arian Foster ran for 231 yards and score three touchdowns en route to beating the Indianapolis Colts in what probably is the biggest upset of the week.

That, my friend, gets you Player of the Week.

Clutch Performance Award: Rashard Mendenhall

You score the game-winning touchdown in overtime, you get the Clutch Performance of the Week Award.

Nice run by Rashard Mendenhall. He earned that touchdown.

Dumbest Play Of The Week: Tony Romo and The Dallas Cowboys

There's four seconds left in the half, and you try and lateral?

Take a knee, buddy.

This award is a no-brainer.

Worst Clock Management Award: Eric Mangini

Quick quiz:

You have all three of your timeouts left, it's getting close to the two-minute warning, and your team is headed for fourth and three with the playclock running low.

Do you call a timeout?

Cleveland Browns Head Coach Eric Mangini didn't, the offensive line false-started and the rest of the game pretty much was a wash.

I want to say more, but I won't.

Biggest Jerk Of The Week: Tie Between Darrelle Revis and Randy Moss

Albert Haynesworth has been running away with this award lately, but he's got nothing on Darrelle Revis and Randy Moss this week.

Revis informs the Jets after signing a huge contract extension that he'll probably hold out again in two years if his performance doesn't drop.

Moss rained all over the Patriots victory by basically telling the organization off in the postgame press conference.

The narcissism and complete lack of self-reflection from these two guys continues to amaze me.

I'm Still Here Award: The One And Only Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow made his NFL debut and was listed as the Broncos No. 2 quarterback on Sunday.

Tebow, who was projected to go anywhere from first in the draft to the third round, depending on who you talked to, has become the darling of Head Coach Josh McDaniels.

Of course, Tebow's ascendance leads to our next award...

What Happened To My Careeer? Award Goes To Brady Quinn

Brady Quinn has gone from being a first-round draft pick for the Cleveland Browns to holding a clipboard behind 2010 first-round draft pick Tim Tebow.

Quinn's career never took off in Cleveland for a myriad of reasons, but his supposed fresh start in Denver already has gone sour.

It's a shame because unlike some other former first-round draft picks, Quinn never showed an ego or an unwillingness to work, he just never was able to take the starter's job and keep it.

Most Gruesome Looking Injury That Wasn't That Bad Award: Leonard Weaver

Leonard Weaver limped off the field with what was being called a sprained ankle.

But if you watched the replay right after it happened, it looked like his lower leg had been pulverized Tim Krumrie-style.

Not a pretty sight, and everyone should be thankful it wasn't as bad as it looked.

Manning Of The Week Award: Eli Manning

Eli Manning threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns compared to Peyton Manning's 433 yards and three touchdowns.

So how does Eli win the Manning award?

Because Eli's team won the game. The Manning Award is a harsh mistress and does not forgive losses.

Sorry Peyton.

Most In Need Of A Mike Singletary Pep Talk Award: Alex Smith

Alex Smith did not have a good day on Sunday, throwing two interceptions. It's time for Mike Singletary to have a nice talk with Smith about the game.

There's nothing that will motivate a player like Singletary having a complete meltdown in your face.
