NFL Fantasy Football: Arian Foster and Nine Other Week 1 Studs
Week 1 of NFL action means Week 1 of fantasy football action.
We still are not done with the full slate of NFL games this week, but we have already seen some pretty outstanding fantasy performances.
Some of the players are the typical guys that were expected to rack up the points.
Others are guys who either had a once in a lifetime game or may be budding fantasy stars.
No matter what way they did it, here are ten players who stood out early on for their fantasy owners.
Arian Foster, Houston Texans
1 of 10
The Colts have had problems stopping the run in the past, but no one was really talking about those problems this year.
That may all change now.
Arian Foster torched the Colts for 231 yards and three touchdowns on 33 carries.
Foster also added a catch for seven yards, but appears to be a big threat as a part of this Texans offense.
Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
2 of 10
Shocking, right?
Johnson carried the ball 27 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns in what can be described as another ho-hum day for him.
He added four catches for eight yards in the win over Oakland.
Hakeem Nicks, New York Giants
3 of 10
Eli Manning has a ton of targets on that offense. One of them may have stepped up as the primary one today.
Hakeem Nicks caught just four passes for 75 yards, but three of the four went for scores.
Nicks showed he was a scoring threat while at North Carolina, and appears to have emerged as Eli's favorite red-zone target.
Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
4 of 10
How does a running back who carries the ball 17 times for just 50 yards become a fantasy stud?
By hauling in seven passes for 151 yards and two scores.
Forte's running numbers will fluctuate throughout the season, but he is clearly a large part of this Mike Martz passing attack.
Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts
5 of 10
At 40-of-57 for 433 yards, three touchdowns, and no INTs, it's just another day in the life of Peyton Manning.
Not all his days will be this big, but expect to see Peyton on this list a few more times.
Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears
6 of 10
Fest-or-famine Cutler looked pretty good against Detroit.
His one INT was a ball that should have been caught, and although he did lose a fumble, his numbers were pretty good at 23-of-35 for 372 yards and two touchdowns.
Tom Brady, New England Patriots
7 of 10
Another quarterback who is no surprise to be seen on this list.
He was 25-of-35 for just 258 yards, but three TDs make Brady a fantasy stud for the bajillionth time in his career.
Chad Ochocinco, Cincinnati Bengals
8 of 10
Ochocinco had a great day, especially if you are in a PPR league.
The VH1 star hauled in 12 passes for 159 yards and a TD in a loss against New England.
Cincy's Robin looked a lot more like Batman Sunday.
David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars
9 of 10
Just 170 yards on 16-of-21 passing, three touchdowns make Garrard a fantasy stud this week.
He also added a point with 10 yards on seven carries.
Wes Welker, New England Patriots
10 of 10
Welker seems to be fine after ACL surgery.
Eight catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns is just the tip of the iceberg of what Welker should do this season.
