U.S. Open 2010: The Bracket Breakdown
As the U.S. Open 2010 heads into the semifinals, the favorites are still around.
Minus that Andy Roddick guy, which is a shame for us Americans.
However, tennis aficionados should be happy with the draw.
Why? Because Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are on opposite sides of it.
So will there be another epic showdown?
First Semifinal: Nadal/Verdasco Vs. Wawrinka/Youznhy
1 of 3
The expectation is that this match will be between Rafael Nadal and Stanislas Wawrinka.
However, Nadal has a tough match in Fernando Vedrasco to get there. When these two met at the Australian Open, Verdasco pushed Nadal to five sets before Nadal finally won.
That does not change the fact that Nadal has never lost to Verdasco (10-0), and has yet to drop a single set at the U.S. Open.
If Nadal is to face Wawrinka, then Nadal advances.
Why? Because in five matches against Wawrinka, Nadal has yet to drop a single set.
Second Semifinal: Djokovic Vs. Federer
2 of 3
Federer holds the all-time advantage in this matchup, having won 10 of 15.
However, three of Djokovic's victories have come in their last six matches.
This match is no doubt a toss-up, but frankly, it seems time for Djokovic to break through.
He has been on the cusp of greatness for a while. Playing against the likes of Nadal and Federer consistently doesn't help you win titles.
Maybe it is Djokovic's time...
Nadal Vs. Djokovic
3 of 3
Federer and Nadal were too easy of a pick for the final.
So how about Nadal and Djokovic?
Nadal has 14 wins and seven losses against Djokovic, but those stats are deceiving.
Djokovic is a hard-court master, and Nadal...not so much.
On a hard-court surface, Djokovic holds a six win to two advantage over Nadal.
If Djokovic can make it to the final against Nadal, then he should win the U.S. Open.
