2008 2009 Predictions

Jacob MowatCorrespondent IAugust 8, 2008

Here is my predictions for the 2008-2009 NHL season

Western Conference

1.Detroit Red Wings-The addition of Marion Hossa with Dominik Hasek being the only major loss keeps Detroit on top.

2.San Jose Sharks-Blake and Boyle make up for losing Campbell on defence.

3.CalgaryFlames-A crappy division is the only reason for this prediction.

4.Dallas Stars-The addition of super pest Sean Avery should keep them close to the division lead.

5.Chicago Blackhawks-Good enough goal tending, amazing prospects, good defence and team will get better when they trade Khabibulin

6.Anaheim Ducks-Anaheim will continue a slide that will only get worse once Burke and Niedermayer bolt.

7. Minnesota Wild-Most likely Gaborick's last season there should see him get traded and Rolston left.

8. Columbus Blue Jackets-Nash now with Huselius and Vorachek should put Columbus in the playoffs for the first time.

Eastern Conference

1.Pittsburgh Penguins-Lost Hossa but Crosby should be healthy all season and Staal will be better.

2.Montreal Canadians-Will win Northeast division without a challenge.

3.Tampa Bay Lightning-Free agent acquisitions and Stamkos on the team will boost Tampa to the South East division crown.

4.New Jersey Devils-Brouder's magic ends this seasion but Rolston should boost New Jersey.

5. Philadelphia Flyers-New York falling is the only reason they'll get here.

6.New York Rangers-Redden and Naslund dosn't make up for Jagr,Straka and Avery

7. Washington Capitals-The Washington Ovetchkins won't be able to repeat last years division win.

8.Boston Bruins-Great defence will put Boson in the playoffs.
