Gamboa VS Salido On HBO Saturday Boxing After Dark
Boxing After Dark, HBO's more exciting boxing program which features up and coming rising stars, returns this Saturday September 11th live from the Palms casino in Las Vegas with the future pound for pound knock out sensation Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Orlando Salido in a featherweight unification title bout at 10 PM/ET.
Gamboa who originally hailed from Cuba, and seems to now claim Miami as his new home, has been knocking out everyone in his path to super stardom in the sport of boxing. With an incredible record of 18(15)-0 Gamboa is one of those exciting action packed knock out artists who you can point to in trying to win over new fans for the sport of boxing.
The now common slang term: "beast" is definitely a worthy adjective to describe the nature in which Gamboa dismantles his opponents. However, some critics may claim Gamboa is rather one dimensional in that he is all offense and pretty much only comes forward at his opponents. Some may claim a real good boxer could possibly outbox him.
His opponent the veteran Salido 34(22)-10 from Mexico may be the most experienced fighter that he has faced to date. Salido's nickname is the "Avenger" for he has avenged virtually all of his losses on his resume and he has decent power himself.
Gamboa seems to be groomed by HBO to be the next exciting powerhouse poster boy for he now has done the standard HBO: "I AM (insert your boxing name)" with the dramatic rain and lightning storm effects promo that all the other promising talent all did on their way up to super stardom.
It seems his most direct competitor fellow heavy handed undefeated rising star Juan Manuel Lopez has jumped shipped to Showtime boxing for his last headlining fights have been on Showtime and his biggest name opponent fight to date against Rafael Marquez will be on Showtime as well.
This means Gamboa may very well be one of the next big names to possibly fill in the shoes of exciting boxing stars such as Manny Pacquiao after he retires in the next couple of years and depending on how well he does this Saturday he may pretty much be the only inevitable force to take that void after the Congress man leaves us hungry for some more.
Also on Boxing After Dark this Saturday will be a 12 round lightweight battle of two undefeated warriors with contrasting styles. Anthony Peterson 30(20)-0 of Memphis will be taking on Brandon Rios 24(18)-0 of Oxnard, Calif. Peterson known for his beautiful footwork, precise skills and clean technique will collide with the powerful combination pressure fighting style of Rios. Should I even mention how this match up may possibly resemble the inevitable Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight? No, I'll stay away from that one.

BRANDON RIOS is seen SATURDAY, SEPT. 11 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) from the Pearl at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, exclusively on HBO.
