Pick: Kansas City Royals +136 (Jim Feist)
You don’t find an ace pitcher this big a dog often. Kansas City righty Zach Greinke has been throwing great the last month, and he has a 3.63 ERA his last three starts. Greinke absolutely cruised through the first six innings of his last, retiring 18 of 20 batters. The offense is third in batting average in baseball and faces a guy, Brian Duensing, whom they have hit well, allowing 31 base runners in 19 innings against KC. Back the ace as a big dog, Play the Royals.

Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -121 (Rocky Atkinson)
St Louis is 72-63 overall this year while Milwaukee comes in with a 63-74 overall record on the season. Milwaukee is 6-16 this year when playing on Wednesday. Milwaukee has lost 6 of their last 8 games overall. Jaime Garcia is 13-6 with a 2.35 ERA overall this year, 7-3 with a 3.15 ERA on the road this season and 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA his last 3 starts. Garcia has allowed only 2 runs his last 21 innings pitched and has struck out 19 batters during that time. Chris Capuano has an 18.00 ERA at home this year. Garcia is 2-1 with a 1.08 ERA overall vs Milwaukee since 1997. We’ll recommend a small play on St Louis tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky
Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -130 (Scott Spreitzer)
I’m playing Arizona on Wednesday night. After a win over Oakland on June 12, Barry Zito owned a 7-2 record and a 3.10 ERA. Since then, Zito has won just one of his last 10 decisions, with his last win coming on July 16. He’s been smacked for a 5.26 ERA during the rough stretch. Getting healthy in Arizona is not likely in the cards for Zito. He’s 3-7 in 13 career starts against the “Snakes” with a 5.33 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. And those numbers are even worse at Chase Field. The D’backs counter with young Daniel Hudson who has been on his game since he first arrived in the national league. He’s allowed just 11 earned runs in his seven starts for Arizona, sporting a 1.99 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and a .207 BAA. Hudson shut down the Giants at AT&T on August 28 and I expect more of the same on Wednesday. I’m playing Arizona. Thanks! GL! Scott.
