Chicago Bears 2010 Season Predictions Revisited
Going back to when I had made predictions for the Bears' regular season prior to the start of the preseason, I am now much better informed as everyone is much more aware of how the Bears look heading into the regular season.
The preseason wasn’t a good one for the Bears. Their weaknesses on offense and defense were exposed and it appears that there is not going to be any miracle cure that we can see as they move toward playing their first game.
But is this really going to be a bad year for the Bears? Are they going to fall flat on their face like so many people are predicting?
Let’s take a revised look at the Bears schedule for this season as well as make some revised predictions as we head into the 2010 NFL regular season.

September 12: Detroit vs. Chicago
1 of 17
The Lions have shown that they are an improving team and should be much more of a challenge for the Bears this season. An improved defense will make things difficult for the Bears, but they should still be able to win this game and get a good start to the season.
Winner: Chicago
Record: 1-0
September 19: Chicago at Dallas
2 of 17
This is going to be a tough game for the Bears. Not only will they be playing against the Cowboys at home, but they will face one of the best offenses and defenses in the NFL. The way that things are going for the Bears right now it looks like it’s going to be difficult to win this game.
Winner: Dallas
Record: 1-1
September 27: Green Bay at Chicago
3 of 17
One of the biggest rivalries in the NFL comes to Chicago in September as the Packers play the Bears. The Packers have been tabbed as not only the favorite to win the NFC North but have also been thought of as being the top team in the NFC. This is always a tough matchup for both teams but it will probably be a tougher matchup for the Bears than the Packers.
Winner: Green Bay
Record: 1-2
October 3: Chicago at N.Y. Giants
4 of 17
This is a tough game but the Giants may be in just as much of a quandary as the Bears are at this point in the season. The Giants are still rebuilding on defense and don’t have a lot of horses on offense, so if the Bears defense is playing well, this could be another win.
Winner: Chicago
Record: 2-2
October 10: Chicago at Carolina
5 of 17
This game will be big for both Julius Peppers and Chris Harris as both will be going against their former team. With quarterback problems plaguing the Panthers, this may be a good game for the Bears to keep getting back on track and gaining better position in their division. Look for the Bears to win this game and get on the positive side of their record.
Winner: Chicago
Record: 3-2
October 17: Seattle at Chicago
6 of 17
This could be yet another “just what the doctor ordered” game for the Bears as people aren’t expecting a lot of big things out of Seattle this season. As long as the Bears can put things together and play well on both sides of the ball, they should be able to win this game and go into their game against the Redskins with four wins.
Winner: Chicago
Record: 4-2
October 24: Washington at Chicago
7 of 17
The Bears will take on Donavan McNabb and the Washington Redskins in a game that the Bears need to win to carry some momentum into their bye week. The Redskins will be better this year but if the Bears are clicking and getting good production out of their offense, they could (and should) win this game.
Winner: Chicago
Record: 5-2
November 7: Chicago vs. Buffalo (in Toronto)
8 of 17
The Bears will travel to Canada to take on the Buffalo Bills in a game that should be pretty simple for the Bears if the Bills have the quarterback problems that everyone predicts that they will have this season. If the Bears don’t give this game away, they should win this game.
Winner: Chicago
Record: 6-2
November 14: Minnesota at Chicago
9 of 17
Chicago will face another tough team when they host the Vikings in their first of two games during the 2010 season. The Bears split their games against the Vikings last season but the Vikings will be gunning for the playoffs once again and quarterback Brett Favre is back and ready to get to the big game. If the Bears are playing as predicted coming into this game then it should be a good one, but the Bears probably won’t make it out with a win.
Winner: Minnesota
Record: 6-3
November 18: Chicago at Miami
10 of 17
Miami is going to be a difficult team to figure out this season as they could either be good or very mediocre. If the Bears are playing well, they should be able to win this game if they can avoid making a lot of mistakes.
Winner: Chicago
Record: 7-3
November 28: Philadelphia at Chicago
11 of 17
The McNabb-less Eagles will travel to Chicago to take on the Bears and once again, this is another tough game to predict because it’s hard to tell how well the Eagles will do this year. If their defense is playing well and if their quarterback, Kevin Kolb, is connecting well with his wide receivers then the Eagles could end up winning this game. It’s too close to call but look for the Eagles to pull out a victory here.
Winner: Philadelphia
Record: 7-4
December 5: Chicago at Detroit
12 of 17
The Bears will travel to Detroit to take on the Lions for the second time in 2010, and if everything falls into place, the Bears should win this game. However, you can almost predict that by the time this game takes place, the Lions will be playing much better football than they did to start out the season. Still, Chicago should earn their eighth win here.
Winner: Chicago
Record: 8-4
December 12: New England at Chicago
13 of 17
This could be one of the best games of the year if the Bears are playing well by the time that these two teams meet close to the end of the regular season. New England has looked pretty good during the preseason and as long as their defense holds up they could have a decent regular season, so it’s hard to tell who will win this game. However, it’s a pretty safe bet to say that the Bears won’t win this game.
Winner: New England
Record: 8-5
December 20: Chicago at Minnesota
14 of 17
The second game in this series will take place on the 20th of December and depending on who is eligible or close to being eligible to make the playoffs, this could be one of the hardest fought games of the year. If the Vikings are in a position to make the playoffs, they will win this game. The Bears may not be able to handle what a fired up Vikings team will give them.
Winner: Minnesota
Record: 8-6
December 26: New York Jets at Chicago
15 of 17
The Jets look to be ready to have a good season and could be one of the more dominant teams in the NFL. This game comes at a time when both teams will probably be jockeying for playoff position if they are still able to qualify for the playoffs, so this should be an important game. The Jets will most likely be playing better than the Bears at this point and are a difficult team to beat so they should win this one and put a damper on Chicago’s playoffs hopes with this win.
Winner: New York Jets
Record: 8-7
January 2: Chicago at Green Bay
16 of 17
This is the last game of the season and there could be playoff implications. The Packers are poised to be one of the best teams in the NFC this season and by this time, they could either be positioning for a better playoff spot or have one already secured and be resting their starters. Let’s assume that they are positioning for a better playoff spot here, so they should easily win this game.
Winner: Green Bay
Record: 8-8
So will the Bears Make the Playoffs
17 of 17
If the Bears come out with an 8-8 record, that will probably not be enough to get into the playoffs this year in the NFC. There are a lot of teams that should be in contention to make the playoffs this season and having ten wins may get you in but eight may be a stretch. The Bears will most likely miss the playoffs in 2010.
