US Open Day 6 Tennis Betting Tips
Richard Gasquet v Kevin Anderson
Kevin Anderson turned a 2-1 set deficit versus Thomaz Bellucci to win in five and setup this third round match against Richard Gasquet on Saturday. Gasquet himself came through a poor performing Nikolay Davydenko, but that victory over a big name has made him odds-on favourite for this match. I don’t see Anderson having any fatigue issues just yet, considering he hadn’t played since the Rogers Cup prior to this tournament. His big service game will be the potent weapon in this match, with Gasquet having lost to big servers in Sergiy Stakhovsky and Mardy Fish heading into the US Open. The underdog is great value and has a great chance of upsetting Gasquet this weekend.
Mardy Fish v Arnaud Clement
After a tough opening round victory over Jan Hajek, Mardy Fish continued his good form from Cincinnati, defeating Pablo Cuevas in three comfortable sets. Arnaud Clement overcame a fatigued Marcos Baghdatis in five sets in round one, before Eduardo Schwank retired in the second set. The Frenchman is going to struggle to deal with Mardy Fish’s serve, provided the American is on form. Fish is a fighter and has played some great tennis of late. I expect him not to be too troubled in this match.
Jelena Jankovic v Kaia Kanepi
Jelena Jankovic has looked off-colour in New York, dropping sets to both Simona Halep and Mirjana Lucic en route to round three. Kaia Kanepi has beaten some good players in recent weeks, including Flavia Pennetta and Shahar Peer. Kanepi has been hitting the ball hard and true, winning four straight sets since losing the first set to Alize Cornet in round one. With the form of both players, the Estonian is a great pick to cause an upset on Saturday.
Dominika Cibulkova v Lourdes Dominguez Lino
Dominika Cibulkova had to come from behind in the deciding set to beat Kateryna Bondarenko on the second round. The Slovakian hasn’t hit her best form in this tournament so far, but can’t argue with a good draw. Her opponent in round three is Spaniard, Lourdes Dominguez Lino, who is only making in her second third round appearance at a Grand Slam, age 29. Lino caused a surprise in round one when she eliminated Yaroslava Shvedova. That was followed by with a victory over Urszula Radwanska in round two to setup this match. Dominika Cibulkova is rightfully the favourite for this match, with her aggressive style and hard-hitting she should be coming back for week two.
