WWE Superstars 9/2/10 Review: Troubled In Paradise

Graham GSM MatthewsSep 3, 2010

1. Ted Dibiase w/Maryse def. Goldust

-Great match, and this is the best Dibiase match I’ve seen from him in a while. Goldust did very well in putting him over, but it’s just a shame he always has to lose. I guess it comes with the price of being a veteran.

Liked the back and forth action, and a nice good length match. Great opener for Superstars as well. I am writing this with a grin on my face that Dibiase is finally getting some real heat, and with this win, he just gets pushed more.

2. Santino Marella w/ Vladimir Kozlov def. Jimmy Uso w/ Jey Uso and Tamina

-First off, I am not intrigued or looking forward to this Tamina and Santino angle and relationship. It was cool with Maria because she was hot. Beth was a different story, but they were still a successful team.

Santino and Tamina is replaying Glamarella all over again, and it will leave Kozlov in the dust. Tamina is probably one of the worst divas on RAW, so if she joined Santino, what would it matter?

Anyway, to the match. It was decent and furthered the feud (if you call it that) between the two teams. The finish was a quick and easy way of  getting Santino out of doing an actual finisher. Santino and Kozlov are tag gold material, so it was pretty boring.

*Sheamus promo – I liked it, and it gives heat to Sheamus for being WWE Champion. But how many times have we seen promos for Sheamus? Enough.

Why not air a promo for Dolph Ziggler to get him over for being IC Champ?

3. Kofi Kingston def. Chavo Guerrero

-Awesome match, maybe because we were given something different than Ziggler vs. Dolph again. I’m glad to see something different, and Chavo is great in the ring with people like Kofi.

Although I’m not a big fan of Chavo becoming the lead heel jobber of Smackdown, he is really good at putting talent like Kofi over especially with greta high-flying action.

This is probably the best match Chavo has had on Smackdown since his return to the brand. Great signatures pulled off, and I liked the suspense I got when they teased a finish from the two. The finish with the Trouble in Paradise was a perfect ending, and I hope Chavo has more matches like this on Smackdown so he can get more exposure.

Final Review: Great show. The opener and the finishing matches were both great by Superstars standards, while the second match was OK. This is one of the better episodes in the last while.

Over the last few weeks, they have had talent like Drew McIntyre and Jack Swagger come to Superstars, now Kofi Kingston. I’m liking they are bringing bigger stars to Thursday to boost they views a little bit and I hope it continues. Would kill WWE though to put a Cena or Edge match on Superstars when they’re not in action on RAW?
