Re-Building The Straightedge Society: Shad Gaspard, Anyone?

Graham GSM MatthewsSep 2, 2010

Note: This article does NOT contain any spoilers from Friday Night Smackdown, as I have heard (But not read the spoilers) that someone will be injured and taken off television for six months. I am not sure what this has to do with the SES, but we'll find out tomorrow.

Currently, I have read articles explaining people's disinterest in the Straight Edge Society, or SES. Honestly, I'm not too fond of their current product either.

I liked it when it first formed a little, with the re-packacing of Gallows and the long awaited debut of Serena. It was kind of used for Punk to do while others took over the main event picture, and to give him more heat as it is. Did it work? NO!!!

Since their formation, CM Punk has lost the Royal Rumble, the World Title match at Elimination Chamber, his first singles loss to Rey Msyterio at Wrestlemania, his head shaved at Over the Limit, his arm broken, his mask removed by Big Show, humiliated by Big Show at SummerSlam, and Serena released. That to me sounds like a boat-load of failure.

Don't get me wrong. I am a BIG CM Punk fan, and as a side note, his promo was the highlight of the 900th episode of RAW. This group had a lot of potential, but since the beginning of 2010, it has not benefited him AT ALL.

I am in favor of breaking up the SES entirely, let Gallows and Mercury become singles stars, and let CM Punk move back to his earned World Title picture.

However, if WWE is still hoping to keep the SES together for the next while, I say change it up a little bit. Let me say, right now the only thing keeping the SES together right now is Punk's fantastic promos.

So after all this constantly rambling you've probably heard before, we get to the title. Why did I mention Shad Gaspard??

Ever since he turned heel, I thought he was the masked man in the SES. He just shaved his head so it'd be perfect. However, immediately after Extreme Rules, Shad Gaspard was sent to FCW to further train, which I am in favor of. He needs it.

I don't expect him to get a big push when he gets back, so why not put him in the SES? It be perfect. He could and SHOULD take Gallow's spot as the lead bodyguard, and maybe add Darren Young too since he will be left with nothing to do besides get released.

I have heard Gaspard is the father of a baby, and that's another reason why he hasn't been on television. Whatever the case, it's been 4 months and I think it is time to return and save the SES.

I also like Gaspard as a singles wrestler if he decide it is "his tyme", but who knows, He might make a really good impact to the SES. Maybe get his first tag team title reign with another member (Gallows, Mercury, Punk, Young).

Thanks for reading Bleachers! Feel free to comment and like as I am open to all criticism.

Due to school starting up again, I will not be writing as much. I will continue to write Smackdown and Superstars reviews when I can, but I will try my best to stay as active in the Bleacher Report community as much as I can. Thanks for your time!
