2010 Seattle Mariners: Like a Bad Relationship You Can't Get Out Of

Jeff EngelsAug 23, 2010

Hello sports fans, and greetings from Lincoln City Oregon where yours truly is perched overlooking the sunset on the Pacific ocean, remembering old relationships as I stare out to sea.

I was on the road all day but managed to check in to this funky little beach motel just in time to watch Sean White let in three runs in the seventh!

I missed yesterday's blow-out completely, as my team battled all the way to the championship game before losing and finishing second. I had a pretty good day at the plate with eight consecutive hits, and got to play shortstop as the result of an injury….who cares, I know.

Anyways, I am on a vacation for real and thus, am not feeling compelled to write about the Mariners on a daily basis (nor are you required to read old posts). However, I did collaborate with a fellow blogger from Boston at nesn.com on an article that he posted on the Mariners that is quite cool.

Check it out: http://www.nesn.com/2010/08/seattle-mariners-season-a-transformation-from-dark-horses-to-rebuilders.html Great to work with other bloggers from around the country who, like myself, are part of the Baseball Bloggers Alliance.

This year’s Mariners remind me of a few ex’s I have had where I knew they were no good for me but I kept going back for more misery, hoping they had changed while I was away. After I watched the last three innings of tonight’s game I had that same feeling as if I had just got off the phone with one of my problem-type ex’s. I knew better than to turn on the TV, yet I have all that loyalty/wishful thinking going on with this year's squad, as I’m sure some of you do as well.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice and though I know I shouldn’t watch the next game against the Red Sox, I probably will anyway…..http://jeffsmariners.com
