LeGarrette Blount Punches Again: Has He Learned His Lesson?
LeGarrette Blount has a history of punching players.
Blount is most famously known for punching a Boise St football player after a game. The incident was highly scrutinized, and Blount received a lengthy suspension from Oregon. That punch lowered his value in the NFL and arguably cost him millions on draft day. He was heavily scrutinized by anyone who had an opinion and learned his lesson.
Or did he?
In camp as a free agent pickup with the Tennessee Titans, Blount is being scrutinized once again. In a goal line drill, he was hit, and his helmet was knocked off for the second time in as many plays. Defensive end Eric Bakhtiari got in his face after the play, and Blount retaliated with a punch to the helmet.

This kind of altercation happens numerous times during training camp on a daily basis. The punch was to Bakhtiari’s helmet and did little to no damage, but it did bring out the naysayers.
Blount defended himself by explaining the incident.
“Two plays in a row, they pulled my helmet off intentionally, and then they did it again,” Blount said.
This is inevitably going to start a media firestorm that will scrutinize Blount and his past, but this is not a big deal. I am not the only who thinks this should be overlooked. Titans head coach Jeff Fisher agrees.
“I am not disappointed whatsoever,” Fisher said. “His past is his past. Is that the first punch you’ve seen at camp this year? No. Okay. I am not disappointed whatsoever. I have great confidence in the young man that he has learned from his mistake and is very competitive.”
This should be overlooked. Blount has learned his lesson and was immediately remorseful the second it was over. He ran to talk to Fisher after the play to apologize. The media will blow this out of proportion, but it’s time to let it go.
