K-Rod Gets Surgery On His Thumb, Placed on Disqualified List

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York Francisco Rodriguez underwent surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery Tuesday afternoon to repair a torn ligament in his thumb. Rodriguez injured his thumb on August 11th after a loss to the Colorado Rockies when he allegedly struck his girlfriends father in the family lounge at Citi Field. He was charged with 3rd degree assault and according to team officials will miss the remainder of the season.
