Arizona had lost 7 games in a row heading into tonight, but were able to out hit NY 13-7 while taking game 1 of this 3 game set in the process. Over their last 15 games the D-Backs are 4-11 with all 4 wins coming at the expense of NY as the Mets are now a miserable 0-38 when trailing after 8th inning.
In his last start against the Arizona Mike Pelfrey allowed 4 first inning runs, and was unable to get out of the second inning when he allowed 2 more in a losing effort and after allowing 3 more first inning runs tonight, Pelfrey (5 2/3 IP, 4 ER) now has a 6.85 ERA in the first inning.
