Why You Shouldn't Count the Boston Red Sox Out
Many people have written off the Boston Red Sox this season.
If I were to tell you before the season started that 100 games in:
- Ellsbury would have played in nine games total
- That our eighth leading player in at-bats was Darnell McDonald (who?) and our ninth leading batter was Bill Hall
- Papelbon's E.R.A would be around 3
- Every pitcher in our bullpen would have an E.R.A above 4.20 besides Daniel Bard and Papelbon.
- That our leading base stealer had a total of eight stolen bases
- That Josh Beckett had a total of two wins
- And that Victor Martinez, Mike Lowell, Clay Buchholz, Adrian Beltre, Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Jeremy Hermida, Josh Beckett, Manny Delcarmen, Jacoby Ellsbury, J.D Drew, and Mike Cameron all went on the DL

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
T hen I told you that we were only seven back from the Yankees and only 5.5 behind in the Wild Card race.
Your reaction might have been that you thought that the team plane must have burned and crashed with most of our team on it and everyone was hurt for a while.
You also might think that I was crazy and that it would be impossible.
But the truth is, it is happening.
With all these injuries in the toughest division in baseball by far, we are still the fourth best team in the American League! I just wanted to point out to the Red Sox fans that are quiting on our team that the season is not over yet and that I like our chances .
With Beckett now back to full health, Buchholz back, and Hermida coming back, we are getting our team back.
If you look at our rotation, I like it more than any other in the league, even more than the Yankees. With Beckett getting back, Buchholz having a Cy Young-caliber season along with Lester, and John Lackey having a consistent season.
Red Sox Injury Update
- Jacoby Ellsbury appears to be on the right track after a minor league game in Florida.
- Mike Lowell was tearing it up down in Triple A, but looks to be activated.
- J.D Drew is still Day-to-Day with his hamstring strain.
- Dustin Pedroia will most likely need around six more weeks to heal his broken foot.
