Ngog And Kelly: More Than Just "bencwarmers"
Not even 3 weeks since the world cup ended and liverpool fc had to fly to Macedonia for their first official match of the season. And it was all the more important considering the fact that this is the only european competition they'l be playing this season. And ofcourse, new manager Roy Hodgson's fist game incharge.
he had to go about this tie without the services of his world cup stars(likes of Gerrard,Kuyt,Maxi) after being advised by his medical staff not to rush them. This left the new manager in a spot of bother.
In came the starlets. The likes of Amoo,Kelly,Spearing ,who'v done ever so well with the reserve team had the chance to prove themselves.
The young guns and the not so young players combined well and gave Hodgson his first win as manager of LFC. Rabotnicki 0-2 liverpool, with Ngog scoring both the goals.
With Torres injured again, Ngog will have to step up again play the role of target man. having played several matches last season and with two in his first official game, Ngog is better prepared and more confident than last time around.
After his performance against Rabotnicki, manager Hodgson made it clear that the French under-21 international is "not for sale". This shows that Ngog is very much a part in Liverpool's rescue act orchestrated by Roy Hodgson this season.
Martin Kelly is another youngster who's lookin to break through into the first team. The full back impressed everyone with his debut performance against lyon last season. But unfortunately, the youngster has been plagued with injuries and is lookin to make another push for a first team place this season.
And if the new medical team at LFC can keep these youngsters injury-free this seasons, they have the potential to grow beyond the shadows of Torres and Johnson respectively
