MLB Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Dodgers After Ted Lilly?
Yesterday Kevin Davidoff of Newsday reported that the Mets are still actually entertaining the idea of trading for Ted Lilly , despite the team’s recent struggles. Lilly has been tremendous over his last few starts, pitching 20 innings while allowing 4 runs (1.80 ERA) and striking out 24.
I love the idea of having Lilly for this year and next and moving Hisanori Takahashi into the pen to act as a gateway to the emerging Bobby Parnell and closer Francisco Rodriguez . Still, as I wrote the other day, with other teams seemingly having the playoff picture more in sight, it stands to reason that they will offer more than what the Mets would be willing to part with. That being said, according to John Heyman of SI.com, the Mets are not willing to trade Josh Thole for Lilly (and rightly so).
