June 27, 2010 Z-Cap: Offensive Explosion Mets 8, Cardinals 2
After scoring just 23 runs over their last 11 games (about two runs/games) the New York Mets found their offense in the friendly confines of Citi Field.
NY exploded for eight runs on nine hits, taking Game 1 of this three-game set vs. the St. Louis Cardinals in the process.
It was the team’s highest run total since July 4 (9-5 win @ Washington), as they improved to 31-16 at home.

Jonathan Niese (6 IP, 1 ER) gave the Mets another stellar start by out-dueling Adam Wainwright (5 IP, 6 ER) to pick up his seventh win of the season and first since July 2.
Niese allowed a first inning run when Ryan Ludwick reached on an infield single to score Jon Jay and give St. Louis the early one run lead. He then settled in to pitch five scoreless innings before handing the ball over to the Mets bullpen, which pitched three innings allowing one error to preserve New York’s victory.
