Yankees Notes: Vazquez, Granderson, Pettitte's Replacement, and More
Bronx Baseball DailyJul 27, 2010
The Yankees were losing 2-1 going into the 8th inning against the Indians last night, but a two-run home run by Curtis Granderson put the Yankees up 3-2 for good.
Here are some notes:
- Granderson—or G-Unit—has been red hot lately. Over the last 14 games he has a .346 average and a .951 OPS. He also has three homers in the last two days.
- Javier Vazquez notched another victory. He is 6-2 with a 3.05 ERA since June 1st.
- In the 8th inning Joe Girardi called on David Robertson , not Joba Chamberlain , in the 8th inning signaling that Joba has lost his role as the 8th inning reliever .
- The Yankees do not plan on sending Joba to the minors.
- Speaking of losing their jobs, Sergio Mitre is not going to make his next start in place of Andy Pettitte . Instead Dustin Moseley will get the nod.
- Alfredo Aceves threw a bullpen session on Sunday and is going to long toss today.
