MLB Trade Rumors: Phillies Won't Send Jayson Werth To Padres As Thought
Update: (2:30pm CDT) ESPN's Jayson Stark, via Twitter , weighs in and says that the Phillies and Padres had discussions, but there was no deal agreed upon and nothing was ever close.
Update: (2:17pm CDT) Todd Zolecki , MLB.com beat writer for the Philadelphia Phillies, reports that Jayson Werth was inserted into right field to start the seventh inning of their game this afternoon.
We can officially put this rumor to bed.

Update: (2:05pm CDT) Jack Cronin, via Twitter, reports that the station has checked into the rumor and says that there is no truth to the phone call they received about 20 minutes ago.
Earlier in the day, Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Enquirer, via Twitter , reported that Werth was not in the lineup for the Phillies today but that he was told it was a "normal day off, nothing more." Gelb must have gotten wind of the rumor because he tweeted a response just a few minutes ago.
Update: (2:01pm CDT) According to Darren Smith, also of 1090 AM in San Diego, says he talked to two San Diego Padres sources who told him the rumor is "not true."

(1:55pm CDT) According to a report out of San Diego, via Twitter, the Philadelphia Phillies have apparently dealt outfielder Jayson Werth to the San Diego Padres.
Jack Cronin , from 1090 AM in San Diego, reports that the Padres sent "a pair of prospects" to the Phillies for Werth. It should be noted that Cronin tweets that he is following up on the call that came in to the San Diego radio station.
