Update: (2:05pm CDT) Jack Cronin, via Twitter, reports that the station has checked into the rumor and says that there is no truth to the phone call they received about 20 minutes ago.

Earlier in the day, Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Enquirer, via Twitter , reported that Werth was not in the lineup for the Phillies today but that he was told it was a "normal day off, nothing more." Gelb must have gotten wind of the rumor because he tweeted a response just a few minutes ago.

Stay tuned for more.
