Manny Pacquiao To Fight Antonio Margarito In November
By Troy Sparks
According to a recent Ring Magazine article by Michael Rosenthal, Manny Pacquiao will fight Antonio Margarito on November 13.
That's bad news for the Mayweather camp.
I understand that the Pacquiao camp didn't want their man to suffer a period of inactivity.
So to knock the ring rust off, they lined up a match with Margarito.
That fight is as safe as Prince Fielder stealing home base from third against a 50-yeear-old pitcher.
After all, Top Rank Promotions have to get the ball rolling to get Mayweather's attention.
They said they offered the Mayweather camp a deal to fight Pacquiao.
Mayweather's mouthpiece said that conversation never took place.
I wonder if the Pacquiao camp will leave the door open for Mayweather after the Margarito fight.
Considering that Margarito will be a tune-up fight for Pacquiao, Rosenthal offered at least three reasons why this match will be worth watching:
We will be watching an exciting fighter in Pacquiao, according to Rosenthal.
This upcoming bout will take away the distractions in the stalled Pac Man vs. Mayweather deal.
Pacquiao will win his seventh title in boxing if he beats Margarito.
Since it's not competitive, according to Rosenthal, and it's an easy fight for Pacquiao, it will do for now.
Maybe if Mayweather watch the fight on TV, he'll get himself juiced up to return to the ring.
On the other hand, Pacquiao might quit after fighting Margarito.
And it'll be too bad, so sad, Mayweather.
The undefeated boxer needs to lend an ear to Bob Arum now.
He might be the only one to delay Pacquiao's fight with Margarito by accepting the offer, it it's still on the table.
Margarito will be happy with keeping his title if his fight with Pacquiao is postponed.
