Early yesterday morning Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, reported that the Mets had agreed to sign former Nationals closer Chad Cordero. According to Rosenthal:
"The deal will be announced today, the source said. Cordero chose the Mets with the belief that he would stand a good chance of returning to the majors quickly."
"
Chad was one of the games best closers saving 113 games for the Nationals from 2005-2007 while posting a 2.76 ERA over that span.

After being diagnosed with tendinitis in his throwing shoulder, Cordero started the 2008 season on the DL before eventually having season ending surgery to fix a torn labrum.
