Minnesota Vikings Training Camp: Brett Favre Can Take His Time
The Brett Favre media circus is once again in full swing this summer, with the 40-year-old quarterback seemingly unable to decide whether to return for a 20th NFL season.
Favre's constant indecision and the attention that comes with it has drawn the ire of many football fans, but I'm here to say that the man has the right to take his sweet time.
Seriously, what other choice does Minnesota have?

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Vikings don't have an Aaron Rodgers-like signal caller ready to take over starting duties like the Packers did. Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels don't exactly scream "franchise quarterback."
And there aren't really any big name QBs on the market either. The Washington Redskins picked up Donovan McNabb a long time ago, and many people considered that to be Minnesota's best alternative to waiting for Favre.
So they wait.
But they aren't just waiting for anybody. The Vikings are holding out for a surefire Hall-of-Fame quarterback who already has three MVPs and a Super Bowl championship under his belt.
By throwing his fourth highest touchdown (33) and lowest interception (seven) totals in his career, the Mississippi native proved last season that he still has what it takes to be a great NFL quarterback.
Simply put, the Vikings know that Favre gives them the best chance to win now. This team is built for the present and, minus a quarterback, all the pieces are in place for another run at the Super Bowl.
It seems like it's only the fans that hate the Favre media bonanza that comes every summer; Vikings players are okay with it. Today in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Minnesota starting center John Sullivan, when asked if Favre would come back this year, said, "I hope he does. We'd love to have him back. I respect the time he's going to take."
Honestly, if the players are okay with it, then fans should be too. Fans want the team to win, and players know what it takes to win. In other words, Sullivan knows that in the best interest of the team—which includes the fans—it's best to wait for Favre and hope for the best.
If the starting center is okay with not knowing who will be receiving his snaps, then fans should be okay with it too. Besides, it's not like there's a better choice out there.
