Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – 7/18/10

Ryan LesterJul 19, 2010

Hereโ€™s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Yunel Escobar, Toronto Blue Jays
I recommended Yunel as a guy to pick up. He didnโ€™t disappoint on Sunday going 3 for 4 with 2 runs, a Grand Slam and 5 RBIs. Heโ€™s 6 for 13 since joining the Jays.

Jhonny Peralta, Cleveland Indians
Peralta went 1-for-4 with two runs, a HR (7) and three RBI (42). Heโ€™s hitting .252.

Aaron Cook, Colorado Rockies
Cook threw seven scoreless innings allowing six hits with five Ks. He improved to 4=5 with a 4.56 ERA.

Travis Wood, Cincinnati Reds (pictured)
Wood wasnโ€™t as close to perfection this time around. In fact he took a loss, but it wasnโ€™t his fault. He gave up one run on three hits with six Ks in six innings. Heโ€™s 0-1 with a 2.03 ERA in 26-2/3 IP.

Jack Cust, Oakland Aโ€™s

Cust went 1-for-4 with a HR (5) and three RBI (22). Heโ€™s hitting .287.

Vin Mazzaro, Oakland Aโ€™s
Mazzaro gave up one run in 7-2/3 innings. He struck out five while improving to 5-2 with a 3.50 ERA. Heโ€™s 3-0 in his last four starts with a 1.93 ERA.

Jose Tabata, Pittsburgh Pirates
Tabata went 3-for-5 with two runs, an RBI, and his ninth SB. Heโ€™s hitting .269, and is a good cheap source of stolen bases.

Ronny Cedeno, Pittsburgh Pirates
Cedeno went 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBI to raise his average to .243.

Chris Denorfia, San Diego Padres
Denorfia went 4-for-4 with three runs and a pair of home runs to raise his average to .281.

Ike Davis, New York Mets
Ike went 3-for-5 with two RBI (45) to raise his average to .261.

Tyler Colvin and Starlin Castro, Chicago Cubs
Colvin went 3-for-5 with two runs to raise his average to .270. Castro went 3-for-4 with a run and a stolen base to improve his average to .294 and extend his modest six-game hitting streak.

Potent Middle Relievers
Brian Sanches, FL: 2/3 IP, 0 Runs, 2 Ks (22 Ks, 30-2/3 IP)
Joel Peralta, WAS: ย 2 IP, 0 Runs, 2 Ks (12 Ks, 12-1/3 IP)
