Pregame- Mets Vs Giants 4:05 P.M.

After 3 straight dismal performances the New York Mets find themselves in an unfamiliar spot, behind Philadelphia and in 3rd place in the NL East:

The sight of being behind both the Braves and Phillies is an uncomfortable one to say the least, but hope lay on the horizon via the left arm of Johan Santana.  A week ago today Johan managed to lift the spirits of the Met’s and their fans after ending a 3-game skid by pitching 7 innings of shutout ball in a win over the Atlanta Braves.  Santana will take the mound today on 7 days rest and hasn’t allowed an earned run in 16 innings, lowering his July ERA to 0.39.
