Erik FontanezJul 16, 2010

The speculation as to who Bobby Lashley's next opponent will be can now end.

MMAMania.com and MMAJunkie.com were the first sites to report that Lashley (5-0) will fight former IFL fighter Chad Griggs (8-1) at Strikeforce: Houston on Aug. 21.

Bleacher Report MMA was able to confirm the fight with Strikeforce official Mike Afromowitz.

Lashley was last seen putting a beating on an out of shape Wes Sims at Strikeforce: Miami back in January.  The fight was Lashley's debut for the San Jose-based MMA organization.

The former professional wrestler was scheduled to compete against Ron Sparks on the Strikeforce: Los Angeles card, but an injury prevented Lashley from doing so.

Griggs is a relative unknown to the casual MMA fan, but the heavyweight holds an impressive 8-1 record with all of his victories coming by way of either KO, TKO, or submission.  Six of Griggs' wins have come in the first round.

Griggs last competed at Rumble In Wyoming: Ultimate Style Fighting where he finished Jon Alexander in the first round via KO (elbows).

Strikeforce: Houston takes place on Aug 21 in the Toyota Center in Houston, TX.  The televised broadcast can be viewed on Showtime.
