Pre-Game Mets Vs S.F. 10:15 P.M.
The Mets will start the second half with an 11 game West Coast road trip as they head to S.F (4 games) and Arizona (3 games) before ending the trip in L.A (3 games). Tonight’s game will mark the return of Carlos Beltran who has missed the entire first half due to off-season knee surgery. NY will send R.A. Dickey (6-2, 2.77 ERA) to the mound to oppose 2 time Cy Young Award winner Tim “The Freak” Lincecum (9-4, 3.16 ERA). Timmy is coming off a fine 7 IP, 1 ER, 10K outing but over his last 3 he’s been anything but his usual self, sporting a 1-2 record and 5.06 ERA. Apparently he also goes by the names: ‘The Franchise’, ‘The Freaky Franchise’, and ‘Big Time Timmy Jim’ (click here to see why). While this is Dickey’s first career start against the Giants, the Mets faced Lincecum as earlier this year and managed 2 runs over 6 innings en route to an eventual 6-5 loss. In 4 career starts against New York he is 0-1 with a 5.04 ERA, his highest earned run average against any team in which he has started at least 4 games against.
