Castillo 0-2 In Rehab Assignment

 According to ESPN New York:

Castillo (heel) began his rehab assignment Wednesday by going 0-for-2 for High-A St. Lucie. Castillo was originally slated to begin his rehab Sunday but had it pushed back a few days. The Mets have 20 days to activate him and there was speculation last week that he may return sometime during the team’s upcoming 11-game road trip.”

Speculation is that once Castillo is healthy enough to resume duties at second base 20-year old Ruben Tejada will be optioned to Triple-A to make room on the roster.  At the end of June this move would have bothered me a bit more than it does now.  Tejada was handling himself well at the plate (.279 avg for the month) and demonstrated a baseball I.Q. well beyond his years.  Outside of that, he seemed like the kind of kid that was getting the veterans going.  I can’t count the number of times I saw Jose Reyes clapping and pointing in his direction.
