The Fourth of July is a day we celebrate freedom, justice, liberty, and independence. Freedom can take on so many different meanings. It can mean so much to the Oakland Raiders to embrace the freedom that comes with a victorious season in 2010.

Were you recently laid off? Well, you probably are seeking and searching for a job so that you can have the money to enjoy life without a lot of debt and stress. Freedom from stress is something some folks are looking forward to.

The Oakland Raiders have had a lot of stress in the past seven years. The value of the franchise is down, but in 2010 many anticipate recovery. Just having the opportunity to feel hope is a positive thing. No one likes to be near the bottom. No one enjoys being classified as the worst or near the bottom of the barrel in the NFL.

Why not use the spirit of the Fourth of July as a motivator to focus on restoration and recovery of the Oakland Raiders? The team should recover in its rank in the NFL. The franchise can recover its Forbes rank.

The Oakland Raiders should recover and begin to enjoy a positive status of the media, rather than be stained by the acidic comments which described some of the challenges and failures of past few years.

It is the Fourth of July.

It is a new day.

It is a day that symbolizes the spirit of America. That spirit is one that gives the people a passion for freedom and excellence. That passion must permeate the country and spread to the Oakland Raiders—again.

After all, Al Davis has demonstrated the spirit of America in his professional accomplishments. He has fought a good fight. He has been an advocate for freedom, liberty, and justice for all.

Davis has been a forerunner in the NFL. He has hired men who were doubted by others. He has given a woman a chance to rank high in the NFL administrative structure.

Davis is a fighter for liberty and justice. He has taken his chances, and he has survived the criticisms of naysayers.

So, on this Fourth of July, let me forecast just as so many forecast in fantasy football.

The Oakland Raiders will rise up and fight to regain their prominent role in the AFC West.

The Oakland Raiders will have more wins in 2010.

The Oakland Raiders will play ball with more passion to commemorate their appreciation of an opportunity to be restored. The new team members and draft choices are going to spark a powerful, renewed spirit of winning.

At least some of us believe that a team can change, and that people can struggle, get up, and embrace the posture of victory.

Go Raiders!

Let this day symbolize your passionate pursuit of more victories to symbolize that the Oakland Raiders, indeed, can symbolize the American spirit—victory, freedom, liberty, and justice for all.
