New York Mets Waste Stellar Start by Johan Santana, Lose 2-1

I felt confident in this game. That is until I realized Willie Harris was on third base with one out in the bottom of the 9th.

Harris always seems to be the one that makes the Mets lose, whether it be on defense or offense. Here he scored the winning run.

Johan Santana had a stellar start tonight, throwing 95 pitches through 7 innings. In all honestly, I thought he should have gone 8.

He was pitching his best game of the year, and got stopped after 7. Elmer Dessens came in to pitch the 8th and did well, to my appreciation.

Pedro Feliciano got into trouble in the 9th, and left after getting 1 out and loading the bases. Ryota Igarashi came in and faced Ryan Zimmerman who hit a sacrifice fly to score Harris.

The Mets only run came in the first inning on a single by Ike Davis , check out a post about him here: http://flushingbaseballdaily.com/923 , scoring Jesus Feliciano , who started in center field.

Feliciano later moved to left field when Angel Pagan pinch-ran for Chris Carter and stayed in to play center. The Mets had multiple opportunities but couldn’t pull through.
