Fantasy Rankings 2010: Tight Ends

Bryan BrackneyJun 30, 2010
  1. Dallas Clark - I really wanted to put Gates here, but i think it is hard to doubt that Clark will have a big fantasy impact in 2010.
  2. Antonio Gates - With the possible holdout of Vincent Jackson, Gates becomes the Chargers top receiving option.
  3. Vernon Davis - Davis should see less coverage in 2010, with defenses focusing more on Michael Crabtree.
  4. Jermichael Finley - Finley really emerged late last season, and most fantasy owners are confident that he will break out in 2010.
  5. Jason Witten - Witten will receive more help with the arrival of Dez Bryant, but he will be used as a blocker more with the loss of Flozell Adams.
  6. Tony Gonzalez - I think Gonzo's career will start to go down from here. I wouldn't risk drafting him high.
  7. Brent Celek - Young quarterbacks tend to target tight ends more than older quarterbacks do, which means more passes going Celek's way.
  8. Owen Daniels - Daniels is healthy again, and teams will be even more focused on stopping Andre Johnson.
  9. Chris Cooley - The addition of Donovan McNabb should improve the Redskins passing game, but it could mean more receptions for receivers, and less for tight ends.
  10. Kellen Winslow - Winslow remains the Buccaneers top receiving option. Many forget he is still out there, but fantasy owners did not in 2009.
  11. Heath Miller - Miller's stock goes down after the Colon injury, but the loss of Santonio Holmes adds more receptions.
  12. Visanthe Shiancoe - Whether Favre returns or not, Shiancoe is a solid starting tight end in deep leagues.
  13. Zach Miller - Jason Campbell is a tight end friendly quarterback. Miller's stats should go up in 2010.
  14. John Carlson - Carlson should be featured like Tony Scheffler was in Denver, which means a breakout fantasy season.
  15. Greg Olsen - Tight ends are not the focus in mike Martz's scheme, and Olsen will be forced to help pass block.
  16. Kevin Boss - Boss saw fewer catches thrown his way in 2009, but he still a quality option when thrown to.
  17. Jeremy Shockey - David Thomas was much more effective than Shockey was late last season; I think Thomas will take some of Shockey's snaps away.
  18. Fred Davis - Davis should get more playing time in 2010, but a lot of that time could be used as a blocker.
  19. Dustin Keller - Keller is surrounded by talented receivers, which could lead to some open looks, but he will also have to compete for catches.
  20. Tony Scheffler - Scheffler benefits from defenses focusing in on Calvin Johnson.
  21. Bo Scaife
  22. Jermaine Gresham
  23. Ben Watson
  24. Rob Gronkowski
  25. Todd Heap
  26. Mercedes Lewis
  27. Anthony Fasano
  28. Brandon Pettigrew
  29. Daniel Fells
  30. Jason Cook
  31. Dante Rosario
  32. Ben Patrick
