Picking My 2010 American League All Star Team

Adam BernacchioJul 1, 2010

Yesterday, I picked my 2010 National League All Stars. Fittingly, today I will pick my 2010 American League All Stars.

Price should be starting for the AL in the All Star Game.

3B: Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay Rays

3B: Michael Young, Texas Rangers

P: Jered Weaver, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

P: Andy Pettitte, New York Yankees

P: CC Sabathia, New York Yankees

P: Jeff Niemann, Tampa Bay Rays

P: Jose Valverde, Detroit Tigers

P: Neftali Feliz, Texas Rangers

P: Mariano Rivera, New York Yankees

P: Joakim Soria, Kansas City Royals

P: Rafael Soriano, Tampa Bay Rays

I had a much easier time putting together the AL All Star team than I did the NL. Both the Rangers and Yankees are well represented with five All Stars each. The Red Sox and Rays are not far behind with four each.

Surprisingly, the Angels, who are usually well represented, had only one pick for me-Jered Weaver. The A’s (Suzuki) and Indians (Choo) only had one representative as well.

For my staff, I was torn between Sabathia and Hughes, but I went with Sabathia because he has been pitching better as of late. Pettitte, at the age of 38, should be making his first All Star team since 2001.

If the NL is behind after six innings, they are in big trouble. Valverde, Feliz, Soria, and Rivera combine for a redonkulous foursome for the A.L.

Rosters for the All Star Game will be announced on Sunday.
