Fish Fry New York Mets in Game One, 10-3

For the first time in the month of June, the Mets have lost a series opener.

In a 7 series opener streak started against the Marlins, the Mets won all 7. Turns out the Marlins would be the ones to stop it.

Jason Bay provided all the offense for the Mets, as he hit 2 home runs, the second time this year he has done so.

The first time came against C.C. Sabathia and the Yankees. R.A. Dickey just plain collapsed in the third inning allowing four runs on a rally started on a lead off double by pitcher Ricky Nolasco.

Dickey’s knuckleball didn’t dance enough to fool the Marlin hitters that inning as they dominated him. He would go 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk, with 3 strikeouts.

Fernando Nieve and Ryota Igarashi combined for 3 innings, 4 hits, 5 runs, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. They also allowed three home runs. Chris Coghlin , Mike Stanton and Cody Ross hit home runs for the Fish.

Notes: Ruben Tejada did not get a hit, so his hit streak ended at 10 games. Jason Bay now has 15 multi-home run games. Jason Bay hit his fifth and sixth home runs of the year.

Jesus Feliciano went 0-4 in the first game of the series in his home country. Alex Cora pinch hit and struck out in the first game of the series in his home country.

Angel Pagan did not play due to injury, but is expected to play tomorrow.

What’s coming up?

Tomorrow will be game two of this series in Puerto Rico. For the Mets, Hisanori Takahashi (6-3, 3.78 ERA) will face Nate Robertson (5-6, 4.89 ERA) of the Marlins. The game will take place at 7:10pm and will be on SNY.
