New York Yankees Derek Jeter In Sunday's Lineup, Heel Feels 'Great'

Bronx Baseball DailyJun 20, 2010

I just wanted to give everyone an update from our earlier notes. Derek Jeter came into the locker room today and told reporters that his heel, that kept him out of yesterday’s game, feels “great.” Manager Joe Girardi has him in today’s lineup.

Obviously this is good news that Jeter is back in the lineup today, but the Yankees are counting on production from him and a few days on the bench might not be the worst thing in the world.

Jeter’s offense has been inconsistent this season. Over his past 11 games he has a .170 batting average with a .590 OPS. Maybe a few days on the bench wouldn’t be the worst thing for him. Of course, being that he’s Derek Jeter he’s going to play through this. Considering all of the little injuries the Yankees have been dealing with this season, they simply cannot afford to have this become a lingering problem.
