What Would It Take to and Bobby Ryan?
When GM Brian Burke targeted Phil Kessel and made him his main priority he went out and paid a very hefty price for the American born sniper. Could Burke do the same thing for Bobby Ryan who is in the same situation? Well let’s take a look.
In less than two weeks on July 1st Bobby Ryan will be a restricted free agent. You can bet you’re upcoming pay check that Brian Burke will at least explore Ryan and talk. This much is guaranteed. Burke will spend to the cap so giving Ryan his earned pay cheque could be the deciding factor of landing Ryan. The Ducks seem hesitant to offer Ryan more money then Perry and Getzlaf.

But what would it take for Burke to land the player he drafted 2nd overall in 2005 only behind Sidney Crosby?
Brian Burke paid a 1st round pick in 2010 a 1st round pick in 2011 and a 2nd round pick in 2010. Despite the fact the picks in 2010 are high at 2nd and 32nd overall Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli was anticipating the picks to be somewhere in the 10th overall, 15th overall and 40th overall range. If this was the price Burke had to pay for Kessel it would be similar for Ryan.
The Toronto Maple Leafs could offer Nazem Kadri (7th overall) Philippe Paradis (27th overall in 2009) and Victor Stalberg who is equivalent to a 1st round pick in terms of potential in this league.
If this were to happen Burke could trade Kaberle for young center men to replace Kadri on the 2nd line (where many people assume he will play) one option could include trading for Patrik Berglund who plays for the St Louis Blues.
A top 6 of Bobby Ryan, Phil Kessel, Patrik Berglund, Tyler Bozak and Nikolai Kulemin sure does look good. Young, fast, and skilled.
Could such an offer pry Ryan from the Ducks? We will soon find out.
