Why Trading David Dejesus Makes Sense For The Kansas City Royals
Being a Royal fan, there is not much to write about when it comes to their performance on the field.
So let’s talk about a possible move that could help those hapless Royals in the “future” (a.k.a we aren’t very good so let’s talk about how we will be good in 4 years to keep fans interested).
David DeJesus is one of my favorite Royals personally, right behind Billy “Buttface” Butler and What’s eating Gilbert Meche.

But looking at the team right now, it would make the most sense to me to try to trade DDJ to a contender for a couple minor league pitchers or a decent position player.
The main reason for this thought you may ask?
The one… the only… Alex Gordon.
Yes, that Alex Gordon. Remember how he was supposed to be the next George Brett and save the Royals from countless years of fielding terrible teams and making terrible trades?
I do, I remember how he has had three disappointing seasons starting at third. Also I remember how earlier this season he was sent back down to minor leagues, and was also dealt a position change to Left Field.
Ever since Gordon was sent down he has been mashing minor league pitching, in 135 AB’s he is hitting .370 with 10 dingers and 29 RBI’s. The guy is just too advanced to be in the Minors.
All of us Royals fans are hoping when he returns to the major league roster something will click and all of that hype will amount to a decent talent (I really hope so since I own an Alex Gordon jersey). But that’s neither here nor there.
So, Gordon is the main reason why a DDJ trade would work, Ned Yost could then move Gordon into left field and move Scott Podsednik to Right Field.
This would allow the Royals to leave the defensively deficient but hot hitting Alberto Callaspo at third and Mike Aviles at second.
Although If I were Ned Yost, I would start Mike Aviles at short over Yuniesky Betancourt and start first year Royal Chris Getz at second. But then again I’m not Ned Yost, so I digress.
This trade would also leave the path open for two of Kansas City’s top positional prospects in Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer.
A possible destination I could see DDJ going is the evil empire or as most people know them, The New York Yankees. Randy Winn was a mistake of a signing, and Marcus Thames couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat.
So I feel having an extra left handed outfielder in that stadium could only help their chances of repeating as world champions.
Also DeJesus was born in Brooklyn and attended Rutgers University, so perhaps he could look good in pinstripes and maybe Alex Gordon would look good in Left Field.
But, in all lets not forget these are The Kansas City Royals we’re talking about here. So in all likelihood Kyle Farnsworth will get an extension and they will trade Zack Greinke away for a bowl of soup (preferably chicken noodle).
Here’s hoping a logical move is made, and a potential star reaches his potential.
