More 'Angel' Than 'Pagan'
The dark cloud that stalked the 2009 Mets like Max Cady did Sam Bowden in Cape Fear, struck again on January 13th when Carlos Beltran decided to undergo knee surgery. The bickering that resulted between the Mets front office and Beltran's camp rivaled the type of exchange you might see prior to a paternity test on the Maury Show. In the end, it was said that Beltran would be able to resume baseball activities from anywhere to 8-12 weeks.
As we approach the 20 week mark, it's clear the Mets aren't holding their collective breath as many within the organization don't expect him back til the All-Star break. In the meantime we can continue to look forward to fascinating updates that include Beltran related activities such as jogging, riding a stationary bike, and baking a cake. So it seemed as though 2010 was starting where the 2009 season left off and the big question was how the team would fair without Beltran.
